I finally got around to seeing WATCHMEN yesterday. You would think that with the username drmanhatten that I would have seen the movie right away (boy, I really loved the graphic novel). But I didn't want to see it with a huge crowd.
I have mixed feelings about the movie. Visually, I thought it was fantastic. The sets were great, the sfx was superb and the fight scenes were really good.
But I don't think that the vibrant characters were really brought to life in the movie. Rorschach, The Comedian and Ozymandius (Adrian Veidt) were vastly underplayed. I think that really hurt the movie along with some of the radical changes in the plot from Graphic Novel to the Silver Screen.
Maybe I'm just giving in to my inner fanboy, but all in all, I did feel it was worth the $10.50 that I paid for the movie ticket. I will probably buy the movie when it comes out on DVD. It just wasn't the end all be all of comic book movies.
