Virgil TWO years.

Wow, time flies. We woke up around the same time we did 2 years ago.
I made Virgil pancakes with Teff and flax. A bit dry despite a runny batter. Olive oil worked better for frying than goose fat and maple syrup can correct a multitude of sins.
We were an hour late leaving due to cooking time. Oops. We sent up to Maryland. Brian took my nephew, brother, Dad and G&P to the grocery store. R. Sat in V's car seat. I wasn't sure how it would go since he's not rear facing in his car seat anymore. He loved it. When we went to lunch he hopped right in and didn't want to get out. Too bad his car seat isn't as easily adjustable for Virgil so we had to coax him out. Virgil was less enamored of his car seat. We bribed him with an empty travel mug. Earlier we bribed him with the notion that he would see "Gamma."
He decided to outgrow Marco Polo today. Bummer. He's so cute but I guess the fun wore out. He's now tall enough to swing from the rings on the top bar in the dinning room. I guess we didn't have to buy a second one. It came with nice grips though and I think another set of mounts so in theory we could mount one at floor level for foot stuff. We applaud when he does his ring pull ups. If we don't, he comes over and reminds us. I had to discuss with Perry about "helping" Virgil swing. I still haven't seen what Perry does but it causes Virgil to fall on his head every time.
Words he says: Gamma. Mommy (still a catch all for food/water/help). Daddy (catch all). Da? (what's that?). Boat. Polo. Hole. Maybe Marco. He signs toilet. That is his word for Nursies. Attempts at bro and Galen. Occasionally Virgil (Burgil). Cat. Dog. Duck.

We went to Fuddruckers and stayed until an older couple moved from giving the boys the evil eye to making comments like, "I guess you're allowed to run in here." and "HEY! I'm on the phone.". No they shouldn't have been running but I wish I'd been there for the phone comment to snap back something witty about talking on a phone at a table in a restaurant when you have a companion seated across from you. It reminded of the time we were playing volleyball on college after sunset and yes we were being noisy but when someone yelled out their window about trying to study my mouth moved without checking with my brain and shouted back, "On a Friday night! Seriously?!!" Everyone stared at me mouth open until the complainer came back to the window and yelled back, "Good point."

Virgil got a sprinkler bobble head that doesn't work and a battery powered light up roaring bubble blowing dinosaur which works quite well and was much enjoyed by all three. Perry got new shoes finally. They're neon lime green. Looking for attention, anyone? Galen got a new Wii game. He bet Brian he'd nap on the plane. Brian was so sure he'd be unable to do so. Galen and I know Brian better than that! Galen is still planning to go for the bike ride with Brian he'd wagered if he lost because as he says, "either way I win.". Galen is maturing so fast, how creative to make your wager something fun but still worthwhile for the other person to take you up on it.

I finished the day by going over to my neighbor's to help her demaggot and wound clean her poor chicken. Raccoon in the neighborhood. He got 4 of our birds first before moving to her coop and opening a door. :( at least he's just a nighttime raider. I warned two of the other chicken owning families last night at our babysitter's off-to-college party. When we got a good look at the wound we realized it wasn't survivable. Such a shame because he looked so much better today than yesterday. So I euthanized him for her. Not the best evening but my neighbor is awesome.

I came home and put the kids to bed. I should go do dishes or laundry. I have three awesome kids and two awesome nephews.
