I got to meet my newest nephew today. Babies just smell so good.
Virgil wanted to hug little Matthew. That was a bit tricky. Virgil's hugs are um, enthusiastic. Perry and Galen came over for a bit but really were too wound up playing in the tent tunnels by that point.
I heard back from work. I have this weekend off. Yay, I get to be at the bris!
Virgil had his labwork apt. at the allergist. We are rechecking the Vit D, B12 and IgA. If the IgA is still low they can give him IgG infusions monthly for 6 months and reevaluate. She thought despite the severity he had a good chance of outgrowing most of his food issues by the time he's five. A part of me is desperately clinging to that hope, another part thinks she's lying to make me feel better.
Next up GI recheck. Hopefully, he'll have the homocystine levels. Fun on that. We got a bill from the insurance saying they won't pay 1c of the $200 for that test because it's experimental. Sigh. We'll appeal and hope they get tired of fighting.
Then we should get a nutritionist appointment so we can put everything into her computer and check the micronutrients etc. it should give me a better idea of how much formula I need to consume and when. Personally, I could probably manage based on the healing v. Itchy of my elbows and hip. Not to mention when I start craving green things. Virgil continues to react to all things green. This week we have had two reactions (not counting the quinoa that I ate two bites of thinking it was millet before throwing down the spoon and grabbing the Benadryl) lime and okra. I really don't even like okra that much. We pickle it and that's good and I have a chicken succotash thing I make with it.
We tried bison and mushrooms today. So far so good. I hate mushrooms and these were just plain button mushrooms that I sautéed in some copious amounts of olive oil with a bunch of garlic. I ate them all. Just shows how desperate I am for new sources of nutrition.
Oh and I got a really nice note back from the allergist in MD who agreed with the local allergist that we shouldn't do the rotation diet but just eat what we can eat. That makes life so much easier. It's already tough telling a toddler what he can't have and to say, no cranberries today it's fig day is just horrendous. Not to mention needing to cook new foods each day. Sure you can make extra and freeze leftovers, to a point. Goose is a special order, Bison is only sold ground, venison is out of season, etc... Lamb and duck it is. Wegmans has frozen goat. I guess it would make a good soup. Goat meat is funky, I like it but the way it is, there's lots if bones and connective tissue, so it really does best in stews and curries which is tricky if you can't have any coconut or tomato and safe spices are still unknown.
