I've always thought "I don't know" was the beginning of wisdom. Someone famous and insightful is probably quoted as saying as much. But in the current day saying such has become anathema. I understand it and I don't. You see it as much in national conversation (especially nowadays) as you do in everyday conversation. If you think you know something, hold fast to it and never waver; and if you don't, pretend that you do.

"I don't know" moves mountains, but it doesn't win arguments on Twitter. Shame, really, because there are some mountains we could benefit from having moved.

On the other hand, does anyone ever actually win an argument on Twitter?
