I put in for a Google Voice invitation.. forever ago. Like, when it was first announced. Well, it came in.. yesterday. Not that I really have any use for it, but hey, now I'm cool. I pretty much never make phone calls, and this isn't gonna change anything. I tend to have a maximum of 30 minutes of talk time each month, and a majority of those are either A) talking to family members or B) placing take-out food orders. This may be useful for international calls, instead of using Skype, but I never really make those either.

I actually have been playing with it, trying to get it to route through Gizmo, since I had an old account on there. I can make it work, and it works fine, except it's just at the edge of too data-intensive for my EDGE connection, and there's a bit of drop-out. (I'm on T-Mobile, and would need to change hardware away from iPhone to use their 3G.) It's fairly usable, but given that I now have to pay for 300 voice minutes anyway, I might as well just have it call me directly. On wi-fi it's fine, though, so if I'm traveling internationally and can get wi-fi, it'll be a good way to make calls back home. The most international I ever get now is up to Canadia, though.
