That's all, folks.

As I was standing at the receptionist's desk waiting for her to call the degree evaluator, the evaluator comes walking out looking ready to leave, sees me, sees the gold form that means I'm waiting for my dissertation before evaluated, and suddenly looks crestfallen.

Dear ,

Congratulations. Your submission has cleared all of the
necessary checks and will soon be delivered to UMI. If you
have questions in the future about the status of any orders
for printed copies or the publication status of your
manuscript, please contact ProQuest/UMI Customer Service
at: disspub@umi.com or 800-521-0600 x7020. You should refer
to your manuscript by the ID number "utexas3002".

Now that your pdf file has been ACCEPTED, it is not permissible to revise it
again. It is now in the final accepted status. Do not update it. You should
retain an exact duplicate of this pdf file and give one to your supervisor
as security copies. These copies are of the official final version. During
the time when the dissertation is not available at either UMI or UT (and
that may be a year or more), you should have this pdf file on hand to supply
copies to anyone asking for them. Also, if you have ordered copies of your
dissertation from UMI, please realize they will not be made or sent until
the dissertation is published.

I have billed you in the UT system for the fees for publishing ($55)
processing $8 and registration of copyright $65. You can go on line to UT
Direct and pay under "what I owe". These fees must be paid or there will be
a financial bar against your record which will prevent the Registrar sending
your diploma or providing a transcript.

I have all of your other paperwork. You have made the deadline. You will
graduate. Once you have paid your fees you will be complete. You may now
celebrate!

Thanks, Lynn Margason

Oh, whoops. I didn't wait for official permission to celebrate before I celebrated several weeks ago. Guess I'd better go celebrate now so I don't get in trouble!
