mushrooms
ok so i've found about 15 types of mushrooms growing in my yard recently & I thought it'd be cool to try & figure out what type they were. On most of them i can't really figure it out cuz i dont wanna take the time to do spore prints but there is this one that I think i figured out. It's really weird cuz these usually only grow on trees..yes it's a polypore. anywho it's really cool lookin & i think it's a lingzhi or Ganoderma lucidum. If it's what I think it is i'd like to make a tea out of it b/c it's said to have some very good properties. People have called it "mushroom of immortality for its presumed health benefits and apparent absence of side-effects, it has attained a reputation in the East as the ultimate herbal substance." There are a lot of good effects & no documented bad effects so..yeah. I couldnt find any other kind of mushroom that looked like the one I found so yeah. It's just weird cuz usually this kind of mushroom grows on maple trees but this one grew out of our yard. I want to take it to someone but unt doesnt have a mycologist...they do have a department about wetlands & stuff so i thought maybe I could take it to someone there & see if they know anything about it. Does anyone have any other ideas or know anyone that might be able to identify it for sures?
