So I started a new job a couple of days ago. I work at the Doggone Fun Doggy Daycare Clinic in Sherwood. It's a long drive to get to work, and I've been working in the early morning, but I find it very rewarding.

Basically owners that work full time drop off their dogs with us, and we take care of them. Mostly I'm keeping the peace while they play with eachother. Of course I get to pick up poop and mop up pee. We do some grooming and lots of cleaning, and when things are calm we have time to just play with the dogs.
I've made quick buddies with a Vizsla named Sasha. I never liked that breed, but she has a quirky personality and she's soft and loves to be cuddled. Not to mention that she's the only dog there that I've never seen bark. She likes to sit with her butt on a toy picnic table and her front legs on the bench, its rather funky lookin.
There's also a Doxie named Lizzie who is also laid back and a snuggler. When she feels the need for attention she sits up in a begging position and looks like a penguin. Very cute. She's not there every day, so I is sad when she's gone.
And possibly the cutest dog there is a Spaniel puppy named Zasha that runs around at a billion miles per hour trying to play with everyone. She's a trouble maker, but is too cute to stay mad at.
There's been about 30 dogs there every day, and each day is a different crowd. I have most of their names down, but they seem to come in waves. Today was Chocolate Lab day. Yesterday was Yellow Lab day. The day before was Golden Retreiver day. Telling the difference between the same breed dogs gets to be a pain. Thank god for different colored collars.

Anyway... I'm extremely tired and sore, but playing with the dogs is a blast. Also, my boss trained seals and sea lions for many years, and when Keiko came to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, she was his trainer. She seems to be taking me on as a mini-me. She's been offering to let me borrow books pertinent to marine mammal training, suggesting seminars and other ways to get experience, and just being helpful in general. Doggone Fun does training seminars in the fall, and even though I'm just a summer hire, she offered to let me "help" with those so that I can sit around and watch. Even though she works with dogs now, she's still active in the marine mammal training community. She writes articles for The Sound of Enrichment and the International Marine Mammal Trainer's Association journal. It's amazing to have her keeping an eye out for me.

Anyway... yet another long and out of context post. Insurance still isn't settled, but I do have my car back. Also I got an A in the class I only went to 3 times, a B+ in the class I rarely went to, and a B in the class I almost always went to. I want to smack the teachers that give me an A for so little work, because it just reinforces my bad school habits. I have my major Psych prereq's out of the way now, though.
