A great actor dies

Oct 11, 2004 03:34

Reeve slipped into a coma Saturday after going into cardiac arrest at his home in New York and died Sunday of heart failure. For those who might not know (though it is hard not to) Reeve was the famed actor who played Superman. In May of 1995, he broke his neck after being thrown from his horse and was paralized from neck down. Reeve turned into an advocate for spinal cord research. Our current president denied any research than there was already (which is basically none). Reeve was in the hospital being treated for a pressure wound for which is a common complication with paralysis. The comlication was getting seriously infected, resulting in in a serious systemic infection.

*Ok, as much as I am not into politics but if George W. Bush gets reelected, this will happen to more paralized people. There might have been a chance this might not have happened if he would have allowed more Stem Cell Research. I mean former WWE star Droz is also paralized and could benefit from this type of research. Droz was powerbombed in the ring and landed wrong on his neck. Now is wheelchair bound. Unlike Reeve who at least lived a good life (though still takin' short since he was in great health before the accident) Droz is only in his mid-late 20's if i remember correctly (maybe early 30's). I beg people, in memory for Christopher Reeve and for everyone else in the same situation... vote against George W. Bush!*

Good-Bye Superman... we will always remember you!!!
