An end to a long week
On Saturday, M and myself, as well as many others bid a final good bye to an incredible man. It is amazing as well as a bit sad that for so many of us who knew and loved Poppa Pat, most of us had no idea the entire picture that was this man. All of us knew parts, snippets and when all notes were compared it was just like.."wow.. I was able to call this man my friend".
There have been very very few people that I have met in my life,especially on a Faire site; that were the real thing. This man was the rare person who truly walked it like he talked it. Most of us never knew half of what he did for others because he was'nt out to get acclaim for it like so many other "dads" out there.
I have no shame in saying that my heart truly broke,and did'nt realize how much until that first tear fell on Saturday morning.
Thank you Poppa Pat for letting me know that small part of you. I'm proud that my folks and my niece and nephews got to meet you last season. We'll set a place for you this Yule.
