First week in California

Well- I've been in California for a week, so I figured now is a good time to update about my first week as an adult.

My apartment is definitely coming together. I love looking out my window and seeing hills. I have furniture, which is totally exciting. My furniture consists of: a queen size bed, a dresser, a lamp, two bookcases, a couch, a coffee table, a bedside table, a dining table, and two tvs. I bought my bed, lamp, dining table, and couch, but the rest of the furniture was given to me by Karen (Jon's military family out here) and the tv's are actually Jon's, but he has a huge 55 inch in his room and has nowhere to store them. Oh darn! ;o) Jon put together the couch and dining table for me while I put things away. Slowly, but surely, my apartment will be complete. Mom is going to start sending out stuff that I had in storage, which will be great. I bought a few things to put on my walls so far, but I have a lot of stuff just waiting to be sent.

Work is exciting and tiresome. My day starts at noon, which is a hard adjustment for me. We have morning meeting and do different role playing things to get us ready for the day. We also review what the past day's sales happened to be and what we need to accomplish for the day. The client for this particular branch is ATT, and we're pushing the UVerse product. UVerse is fiber optic internet and cable, which is more secure, faster, and better quality all around. At one, everyone breaks for lunch and to go into the field. We go to people who already have ATT for their phone and/or internet provider. We stay in the field until 8. then we head BACK to the office to turn in our numbers for the day. That's a fun experience, too. Everyone gets in a circle and claps out a beat. If you get two apps, you shake a clapper. If you get three you get to ring a bell. If you get four, you get to ring a triangle. If you get 5 or more, you get to ring a gong. And everyone is cheering and high fiving each other! My first two days, I didn't really do much. I learned the pitch and opened up sales, but I didn't close any. My third day was MUCH better. I actually opened and closed TWO sales on my own! That was way exciting for me! I got to shake the clapper and everyone was cheering me on because it was JUST my third day =D

Jon has really stepped things up, as far as being in a relationship goes. I think it's finally hit him that I'm not getting on a plane to Florida again. The big, tough Marine has a soft side. When I got my rental car, I was following him home through the hills. I lost control of the car when I was going downhill on a turn. I did a 360 turn and came to a stop after hittinng a sign. I was scared and pretty ticked that I did this in the rental. He immediately turned around and ran across the street to check on me. No MAJOR damage to the car, thank god, but I'm sure Enterprise will notice it. Jon also came to my rescue after my first day of work. I didn't attach my apt key to the rental car key because the ring is too hard to deal with. My apt key fell out of my purse and slid between the carpet and the seat track. Jon drove an hour north at 10 pm to help me get the key. It took a good half hour to get it, too! He's calling the apartment home and helping out with the groceries and stuff like that. We're both pretty excited about the Colorado trip coming up. I can't decide who is more excited: Dad or Jon...

Anywho- I need to start getting ready for my day. Hope everyone has a great Monday! And remember- Eat lots of French things today to celebrate Bastille Day! ;o)
