So much has happened in two weeks! For now- I'll just recap my Thanksgiving break and save the rest for another day.
It was nice to be home for a week. I didn't have to go anywhere or do anything. Such a change from having to write plans, make powerpoint presentations, wake up early, teach all morning/early afternoon, and then work late afternoon/evening. For the most part, I really just relaxed. I went to the Museum of Discovery and Science with my parents the first real day I was home. It was a ton of fun! We saw Beowulf in 3-D on the IMAX screen. We enjoyed it.
I went shopping with mom to find things for my nephews and for Jon for Hannukah. I got Jon some pretty goofy things. Let's see: a 100 piece Transformer puzzle, a small Legos set, a mini menorah, decorate your own menorah, Hannukah activity book, a slinky, flippy fliers (the disks you attach to the end of a gun and then you shoot them), a nerf football, miniature wrestlers (complete with a breakaway ladder!), mini tanks and such (so he can wage his own war!), a remote controlled car... I know I'm missing a few things... but oh well. I also made him brownies from scratch and cut them into the shape of a dreidle. I tested out the batter before I baked them, and it was the best batter I have ever made. I mailed him out his package, which he has already received. Apparently Marines celebrate holidays whenever they want- he opened up all of his presents already! At least I know he enjoys what I sent him. OH! And- the brownies were a hit! He shared them with the guys he works with and they were gone within 10 minutes. =) I have one more present for him, but that is being mailed from a seperate place. I'm not going to mention it because I know he's going to read this... But- anyone I've told about it says it's pretty cool =)
Thanksgiving itself was great. I cooked/baked a whole lot (as evidenced by my facebook/myspace pictures). It was great to spend it with my family. Sadly, Nana (my aunt's grandmother that I was pretty close to), passed away a few days before Thanksgiving. I swear- it wouldn't be a year away at college without a death in the family. She lived 102 great years. We didn't let the sadness overshadow the holiday. We laughed, watched football, and enjoyed a great meal made mostly by my aunt. After that I met up with Todd and Stephanie and ended up going to Spirits with some other people. It was a ton of fun. Friday was Todd's birthday, so I met up with everyone again and we went to Boca. Lori drove up to Boca- I was stoked that I got to see her. Then on Sunday I hung out with Jeremy. We got dinner at Cafe Lux (part of the Cheesecake Factory). It'll be great to be able to hang out with everyone again when I move back home.
Now- I'm off to do some laundry and shower and such... Hope everyone has a great day!
