Theatre with a capitol "T" is not what I'll be doing in the near future.
Most anybody who knows me pretty well knows that I used to sing, dance, and act, but I kinda gave up on that dream to do techie work (which is a little more secure and offers a little more money).
Well, a woman who is friends with Joan from Nashville Follies (THEATRE FROM HELL) called Jared because Joan said that Jared and I could both sing and dance and the woman was looking for a couple to be in her next show. The woman "Betty" invited us to come to the theatre to see their current show and eat dinner.
This place is hysterical. The weeds are growing through the welcome mats out front. The woman cooks dinner for all the audience herself, and sleeps upstairs from the theatre. They don't even have lines between songs, and the choreography consists mostly of meaningful standing, jazz squares, and jazz hands. Jared and I were trying to suppress the laughs the entire time. We thought "hell we are here, why don't we audition anyway?" So we both auditioned and the woman loved us.
The deal is we only rehearse every Sunday. Jared and I only work every Friday and she said that she will only ever have us work together... now this is the great part... she pays $50 per show and the audience tips the actors. They say that the average night we will each pull in $100. Plus we get fed dinner.
Jared and I said that we would have to think about it, but ultimately it was too much money for too little work to pass up. This theatre is really bad though. I don't even want my parents to come see one of the shows.
Anyways, super exciting, I'm acting again.
