So, as many of you know, I went down to California this past weekend for my cousin's wedding. The ceremony was beautiful and it was great to see my family again.
However, half an hour before we were to board the shuttle to the ship, I was running around our hotel room getting myself ready to go. Somehow, my second-smallest toe on my right foot made its way headlong into one of the poles on my suitcase rack. I heard a resounding crack and looked down at my foot. Great. My toe, which was supposed to point straight ahead, was veering off to the right. I put on a pair of flip-flops and went to the wedding. I was the only member of the wedding party in black flip-flops (rock on!). The next day (Sunday), about half of the top of my foot was various colors and it hurt like hell. So on my lunch break yesterday, I went to the urgent care clinic and got it x-rayed. Turns out, the largest bone in my toe is pretty much broken clean in half. Even better, the area in question is under my actual foot, so for all intensive purposes, I broke my foot. Great. What kind of idiot breaks their foot on a suitcase rack?! I went to see a podiatrist this morning, and he gave a boot sort of thing that will allow me to walk. The catch? I have to wear it for 6 weeks. Oh well....beats the hell out of gimping around. The boot thingy has pumps on both sides so I can give my foot the most support possible. I doubt Neil Armstrong had such technology at his dispopsal when he went to the moon :-P
So have a laugh at my expense tonight and don't run into any suitcase racks. That is all :-P
