Post for the happenings of May
Travels
Went to Charleston for Jacob's last weekend in town deal. I had a lot of fun. I spent a lot of money and....drank booze. Saw my good friends and just as always laughed for about 48 hours straight. I love going down to Charleston because I never stop laughing. That and there is a beach.
Then Shallow Palace took a road trip to Florida for 2 days:
Day 1 we drove from Columbia at about 10AM and finally reached our destination in Ocala at about 5pm. Ocala is a small town, but man was it pretty. The venue we played at was called, "The Capitol" and it the building used to be an old bank. The show went pretty well because we played good, but the venue was a straight-edge venue. The had signs up on the walls saying, "No drugs, alcohol, moshing,.....funj." But....who cares...They still paid us and everyone was pretty nice too.
After that show we went to Bob's house. For those of you who don't know Bob it's Skeezy P's Dad. Man, what a great guy. He let 7 hoodlums stay in his house for the night. We got hammered, played pool, jammed, shared stories, and had a really awesome time.
Day 2 we woke up around 10:30 and headed to Tampa. But before we decided to go to the venue we wanted to hit up Clearwater Beach because it was like 20 minutes away. Well.....Traffic sucked and it held us up for a while so we had enough time to park, jump in, and dry off. Either way. It was nice.
Then we got to the venue...which was really downtown Tampa. We played in front of the Tampa Museum of Art for a festival called Art After Dark. It was so fucking pretty outside. We had skyscrapers behind us and rows of palm trees. The sun was setting....it was just awesome. What sucked those was that we were just way off. Greg was sick, Brett and I couldn't hear each other, and the sound guy was sucking at his job too. After we got off stage (thank god! :) ) we romped around the museum drinking free Starbucks, looking at art, hearing some spoken word, and listening to other great bands such as....Auto!Automatic!! They were great.
Then we hit the road at 11:30....I got home at about 7:45AM and went to sleep in the Mellow Parking lot for a little over an hour until Alex woke me up for a meeting at 9:30. After that I eventually crashed.
I would write more besides Shallow Palace but I have to be at work soon. So i'll continue my tales later.
