Speaking as someone who knows a little bit about the Arthurian myth, I almost squealed out loud when Uther said "Geoffrey of Monmouth". Because Geoffrey of Monmouth WAS A REAL PERSON. He's the first historian to mention King Arthur ( ... )

Ooh, I knew I recognised the name from SOMEWHERE! Excitement \o/

That was hilarious, and great foreshadowing, 'tis true :)
Bradley James is everything I usually don't go for in a guy, so finding myself fangirling him is odd, but I've given up fighting it now :P Santiago Cabrera, on the other hand, is NICE, but not... it.

Haha, yes, it's likely the fact that here's someone who can actually equal him in terms of fighting and sex-symbolism. Although, for me, Colin Morgan always wins, I do recognise that he's attractive in a very different way to Bradley James :)

I have read it, and actually that would really work, which is interesting ( ... )

Exactly. That's exactly it! Normally, I never fancy blond guys, I always go for dark hair, high cheekbones, interesting looks. Ah, Colin Morgan... see, Colin Morgan might not be as good looking as either Bradley or Santiago, but he has charm and he has sex appeal. Which is quite different from good looks. Plus a mischievous smile. And fabulously clear skin. I'm actually quite envious of that skin.

I have read it, and actually that would really work, which is interesting.Isn't it?! I say that because Bradley has such classically good features and in every adaptation of the book that I've seen, St. John Rivers is NEVER good-looking enough! He's usually okay, regular features, but not jaw-droppingly handsome, which is what he SHOULD be. That's what makes him such a great contrast with Mr. Rochester and Jane's refusal of his proposal so ( ... )

We all are *nods*
Yes, I definitely see what you mean with the contrast of Bradley James' gorgeousness and Colin Morgan's charm and charismatic appeal.

YES. Just yes. He's definitely got the looks for S.J.R, and I think he's got the depth to show that threatening nature very well, too. We've already seen that he can act the character who expects something as his due and then is refused brilliantly.
He seems like he could do controlling extremely well, and that nature played by someone with such devastating good looks would have the effectiveness that, IMO, is lacking in most adaptations.

Yes, she's gorgeous, we get it, now let's focus on something ELSE.I think everyone is waiting for more of Morgana. She is beautiful, clearly, but I can't help wondering if they are bringing it up so much to distract us ( ... )

Well, that's why he's the leading man. ;) In some ways, Colin has it easy: Merlin is our viewpoint on Camelot, he has to hide a vital part of himself, he bends the rules because he wants everything to be fair and just. If he does something wrong or pig-headed, we forgive him because Colin is so charming (not to take away from his acting, which is good). But Bradley has to make Arthur sympathetic and likeable, despite the fact he is so good looking and has such a privileged upbringing. His talent is his ability to show the pressure Arthur is under without ever making him look pathetic or whiny. It helps that they're making Uther such a stereotypical tyrannous dad, of course...

Bradley is given some great material to work with, that does help, but he takes the idea and runs with it, and he's obviously given a lot of support. Poor Anthony Head, on the other hand... what a thankless task! I mean, I know from interviews that playing the baddie is fun, but I don't think he's having much fun, really.

The video was incredible. I love that they seem to have just given Bradley a camera and said "Right, go film stuff, and we'll post it to the website every so often" and he literally seems to have carried it about constantly :P

Because they knew the result would be priceless! XD

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to pick up on his comment about Santiago being "ridiculously good looking" :P

Haha, definitely not, I'm sure there was a little bit of "hmmph, I'm not the prettiest boy on the set any more" there, but only a whiff, which is why it's funny. Plus, his comment on how they threw him in a dungeon and didn't feed him for a day, "which is why his cheekbones... are so prominent" made me giggle like an idiot.

He does ( ... )

I don't know, there do seem to be times when ASH is having fun with his role... the conversations with Morgana stand out for me; it's just the rest of his scenes that seem a little... lacklustre, I guess ( ... )

Definitely the conversations with Morgana stand out, because they're the only time we get to see Uther actually being uncertain, unsure, vulnerable, not a stereotype. I really think ASH deserves better, but I hope that he will get his dues when the finale arrives.

I just hope that the DVD has an extras feature with MORE footage from Bradley's behind-the-camera trip :P

Absolutely and I hope that the rest of the cast make cameos. :)

She was checking him out every second she got. And I absolutely adored her extending her hand for him to shake and him kissing it instead =DOh yes, very Lancelot! Also, Angel Coulby was very good with all the little shivers, gasps and sighs: not over the top, but there for you to see. I loved it when Merlin told Lancelot that he looked the part of a knight and she said with that goofy grin which we've ( ... )

Oh, definitely. The writers must know what ASH is capable of acting-wise, so there must be something good lined up for him in the future.

I hope that the rest of the cast make cameos
YES, most emphatically. I really look forward to the possibility of that :) *fingers crossed*

I loved it when Merlin told Lancelot that he looked the part of a knight and she said with that goofy grin which we've all worn, "Doesn't he just?"
It was great to see that. Partly because I think every girl watching could empathise with her right there (which Gwen definitely needs, IMO), but also because it added a bit of depth to her character; we got to see that she isn't just a bumbling fool that fancies Merlin or a handmaiden, but has talents of her own (seamstress) and understands physical attraction as well as having a crush.
I hope that explanation made some semblance of sense...

See, now I have a hilarious picture in my head of Merlin doing that and Arthur catching him and asking what he's ( ... )

I really would like to see this in a crack!fic now.

Your wish is my command...

Arthur was suffering from insomnia again. He didn't know why: he trained to near physical exhaustion every day, and then he had to endure a mentally exahusting banquet with his father watching his every move and Morgana sitting opposite him, smirking and wearing some garment that seemed designed to fall off at any moment - okay, that really wasn't going to help him get to sleep ( ... )

Arthur stared at him, completely speechless for a moment. "What am I doing here - what are you doing here?" he exclaimed, going on the attack, just as he'd been trained to do. "It's the middle of the night, Merlin, it's winter, and I find you dancing NAKED in the COURTYARD under... what exactly is that?" He pointed to the sign above Merlin's head.

Merlin was thinking rapidly. I knew I shouldn't have drunk that cider. Just because I was missing Lancelot was no reason to... "Oh, um, that?" he said, striving desperately to appear cool and casual, which was very difficult when he was naked in the middle of the courtyard and Arthur was giving him that special royal look. The look that said Oh my God, you peasant halfwit, could you possibly be more stupid?, the look that reminded Merlin over and over again that Arthur was a prince and knew more than he, Merlin, would ever forget, because while he could read all the books in Camelot and listen to everything that Gaius said, there were some things you could never learn, some things had to be ( ... )

I'm so happy it made you laugh. I was chuckling all the way through this.

Can you just IMAGINE what Gaius will say when he finds out?

Really, really happy that you are incoherent with laughter. I'm quite pleased with this.
