Day 5: Travel

If we live truly, we shall see truly. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Not everyone wants to travel the world, but most people can identify at least one place in the world they’d like to visit before they die. Where is that place for you, and what will you do to make sure you get there?

This is an incredibly difficult question because it is so easy! The short answer would be: everywhere! But really, there are some places I need to see far more than others. In the country, I feel it's super important to see all the major landmarks and parks. I'm still kind of bummed D and I couldn't see the Grand Canyon this year. My next out-of-country-trip will most likely be back to Ecuador to see my grandmother, and other relatives too of course.

I also would like to visit Chile now that G has issued me and DS an invitation. After reading about K's adventures, I realized that I didn't see enough of South America, even while living there.

Egypt is on my To See list. I think seeing the pyramids live would be incredible.

Then there's Europe. My dream for Europe has always been to spend at least a month there. I really feel like going to a place for a weekend or a week is just not enough to really get a sense of a country or a culture. I would ideally like to go to each country I visit and spend an extended period of time there, but I understand that's not realistic. Still, I have a love of British literature and humor and accents that I need to spend time in Britain. That is one of my goals before this life is done.

Spain also makes the list, as does Greece, a return to Italy and France, a swing by the Czech Republic, and who knows what else I might be inspired to do?

How will I get there is a good question. I don't currently even have a passport, but that's on my To Do list for this year. I'm hoping that some day if I move on to a school system and am maybe earning more money, I'll be able to start incorporating all this travel into my summer breaks. That's a lot of ifs and maybes, but you never know where life will take you. That's what makes it interesting.

Nette away.
