Valley of Fire
About an hour to the north north west of Vegas is the Valley of Fire, so named for the red color of the earth. A part of the Mojave desert, it was once the bottom of a sea bed, has very interesting rock formations and was the home for native americans almost a thousand years ago. It was also a very dry and hot land.
Beehive
These rock formations look like beehives and are close to some sacred groud for the Moapa tribe.
Atlatl Rock
An atlatl is a prehistoric part of a weapon that allowed the user to throw spears an additional two feet and increase the force by an additional twenty percent. After climbing 86 steps of a metal staircase and platflorm, we were able to see several petroglyphs, one of which was of an atlatl aimed at a poor four legged beast.
