This is an interesting theory. Still, I can't help but wonder what it was that was supposed to remembered from the last time loop... what Orion was trying to tell us as we crossed the event horizon.

Perhaps we should make a list of all theories, see if we can find one that explains everything.

Orion mentioned illusions, that they thought we were illusions, but discovered we weren't. That must be significant... perhaps even linked to the experiments these phantoms of the crew seem to be discussing. The passengers, however, don't seem to be part of those who were informed.

It occurred to me that perhaps they thought we were phantoms in the way that those around us now are phantoms.
