Working on the Starblazer cover today. So very little time left before the deadline, waugh!

I admit this version leaves me somewhat tempted to try to edit the logo such that it's white in the center fading out to yellow, instead of yellow out to gold, to make it pop more.

They're both really nice, and I was dubious about pulling the three boxes, but the second draft just looks really clean. Man, I'd go with this one. Possibly stack the three boxes on the back where there is one image now? Or place the first two boxes atop the tall image: one near the upper left of the tall image (near the Blast Off! paragraph) and one near the bottom right of the image (near the spine)?

Your instincts are dead-on, Fred.

A white-to-yellow font color for the title will make it pop more, especially contrasted with the red and black background, the gold ship with white exhaust flames, and above the blue planet. I'd keep the subtitle yellow, though.

I'd also keep the lone guy on the back... the color match is good with the cover, and in my experience it's better to go for a single iconic image than a number of smaller less striking ones.

I assume you'll match the title font on the spine?

Don't know on the spine question, the title/logo is something of a vectored/distorted one-off, and I kind of like the spine font unity with the font used for the rest of the text on the cover, not to mention its high readability.
