Playing 4E, or, How I learned to stop worrying and love the GSL

Y'know, after playing D&D 4th edition, I find myself just a bit more favorably inclined towards the idea of publishing stuff for it.

The game's just fun at the table. We did a 3-player game, and had two fights that felt pretty white-knuckle at certain moments as hit points got played close to the wire. I was at single digits and nearly out of ( Read more... )

The scary part is that right now it's by product line, but they can update it at any time to include something along the lines of by company. Then they don't have to tell you they made they change.

The GSL is just one flimsy foundation from where I stand. At least right now it is.

Yet licences with those terms are used all the time and licencees manage to be quite successful under them. Honestly, the GSL is relatively normal for an open licence and its terms aren't as onerous as some people seem to think.
