I hearby swear never to pass on any jokes I receive by email ever, to anyone. Should I ever do so, my punishment will be lifelong feelings of inadequacy. The punishment shall be twofold should the humor fall under the category of "office humor." Little do they know that their computer-crashing, self-effacing jokes make me want to thrust myself ( Read more... )

Hey I keep meaning to send you a list of things to do in Tokyo, but I keep forgetting. Unfortunately, many of the business cards I saved are back at home, so I don't have information about a lot of places, and I'm sure some of them are closed by now.

There's this American pizza place I used to go to every now and again wtih people from work. It's kind of expensive, but it's good and the owner is really nice: http://www.pizzakaya.com/ .. next door to it is a pretty cool restaurant/lounge too, the name of which escapes me.

Also, for concert or other listings:
http://www.tokyoq.com
http://www.metropolis.co.jp

You could always check the venue listings too... off the top of my head I remember Shibuya AX, Club Quattro, Shibuya Nest, Akasaka Blitz... I don't remember if all of those have web sites, but they probably do.

pizzakaya was formed by an alum from me and jenn's school in japan; I guess maybe that's the owner, too? I've only heard totally awesome things about it.

wow I didn't know that. the site says he moved back to the us though so I doubt he'd be around to make fun of terry-kun with me. ;p
thanks for the info, mark, I'll definitely check it out, though I do love wild japanese thin-crust pizzas well enough... I'm apparently not too discerning when it comes to italian food, according to all the people who think it sucks here. but- but it's all ever so al dente!
so I might check out the place next door. we've resolved to find a trendy hip interior-decor bar with a dj tonight , and even though I saw such things everywhere in kyoto, for some reason there's a lot more skeeviness here. I'm hoping to avoid roppongi at all costs even though everyone says it's reborn as a nouveau yuppie town with roppongi hills and all that. keep me posted if you remember anything else! the movie listings are really helpful, I was resorting to going to individual theater websites..

ack! I totally did and I haven't forgotten about it, in fact I've been remembering the need to respond to your and felicia's and lizzy's and carol's and jeff sousa's emails (even though his was way too short) about once an hour since I received them, and for some people it's been months. I must be some kind of incorrigible old man. now I have so many mails to respond to I may just update my journal with something substantial (ie long and boring) and then write everyone shorter messages or something... forgive me! I love your hachinohe happenings! I'm going to sapporo on sunday to wednesday! unfortunately we kind of bailed on hakodate.. =( well, I have two years I guess.

Waaah...;_; I see I see...What are you doing in Sapporo? Do you get many vacations? Have you made a lot of Japanese friends? (Questions come in three's, just like most things...? Ahh! That became the fourth one!) I've been sitting in front of the computer all day long...except lunch break when I skipped out to send out a mail for this Weekend Kansai Tour in March, and then stopping by Mr. Donuts to collect another point card, because I want to get the white Schedulun!

I look forward to seeing your updates...you must be very busy with school and getting settled in >_< Take care!

p.s. oh yah! Will you have a break in early February? Because Jeff, Paul, and two other friends from UW who are working in Japan right now are thinking about going to the Yuki Matsuri in Sapporo...
