3 down, 8 to go....
So, if you go to my myspace and you go down to my heroes section, I have eleven heroes. Up until Thursday night I had met/know 2 of them (mom and liz) and I've seen another two of them in person (Max and Chris) and I'll be seeing Ben in July. But Thursday, I actually got to meet one who didn't give birth to me or go to high school with me. I met Chuck Palahniuk at a book signing/reading. He is such a down to earth person. When you bring your book up, there's already a post-it with your name written on it so he can sign fast. He writes a little something in your book and then he stands up, hands you a bouquet, puts a veil on your head, hands you a fake cig that smokes when you blow into it, and poses for a pic. He did this for each person until the reading and then 350 or so of us piled into an auditorium and heard him speak/ answer questions for 2 hours.
It was heaven. He's such an awesome speaker. He read what is believed to be one of his most graphic stories, Guts, and the way he read it was superb. I'm glad the first time I came in contact with that story, he read it. It just wouldn't have been the same if I read it from the book. So on the way out he and two assistants were throwing signed amputated legs, arms, and squeaky hamburgers and I got hit in the face by a burger. It stung for a couple minutes but was well worth it cause it's signed!
