Akihabara is a Tokyo district full of mangas, anime, electronics, video games, figurines, etc. It is a place that gathers fanatics of such themes, people who are commonly referred to as otaku. Page, Box, Akira, Taiko, Daruma, and Izumu are six otaku each with his/her own troubles and sought relief through a website called "Yui's Lifeguard." When site owner Yui died of a mysterious death, the six who are each experts in their own fields gathered to form "Akihabara@DEEP", a "trouble shooter" group that vows to protect Akihabara and solve the problems of its inhabitants.

I really enjoyed this series. Seeing a bunch of faces who are big stars now being little flickering lights center stage is awesome. This series really encompasses the concept of together people can do anything and that even the meek can find strength in themselves to fight against hardship. Although very inspirational in its own way, it will also take some determination to sit through it. I don't mean to say that it is a bad series it just drags at points which can deter many people who want to enjoy the series further. It's funny, campy, and explorative of the lifestyle in Akihabara, but it can also be draggy and at times boring so be prepared if you plan to watch it. Most of the main stars in this series went on to do great for themselves and others faded away, for example:

Ikuta Toma. Since this show, he has done a ton of movies and shows and has truly gained stardom status.

Kazama Shunsuke. Though not as prolific as his fellow Johnny's above, he continues to have a stable and productive career on screen, but has also done a lot of stage work as well.

Hoshino Gen. Definitely not as involved in screenwork as the two above, he is definitely a known figure in this day and age as a singer/songwriter of some renown. So much so, that he performed at the 67th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen just this past New Years Eve, and his latest song has blasted to the top of the charts.

Himura Yuki. Originally a comedian, he has expanded beyond that to being a director, and announcer popular in both mainstream media and comedic variety shows. I believe he is, or was, even the voice from heaven on vs Arashi.

Kosaka Yuka & Matsushima Hatsune. These ladies have all but disappeared from the screen only revisiting the occasional variety show and have instead gone into modeling as their mainstream careers.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
