(no subject)
here i am, updating at work again. some of you may be confused because me saying that i am working at the rockwall at the aquarium. "whoa!! there's a computer at the rockwall at the aquarium?!? you are soo lucky!!" well, no. and in fact, it's the complete opposite. working at the aquarium sucks. it used to be like $7 for one and $12 for two but the aquarium changed it so that it's free but ollie and sharon (my bosses and the people who's rockwall it is) get a certain % of each admission. this kinda suxs because once people find out it's free, it's mayhem. something about the word "free" that just sets people off. they'll do it even if it hurts them. there's one advantage and one HUGE disadvantage about making the wall free. the one advantage is that i just get to sit there under the wall next to the tent and kick back. i don't have to advertise it anymore. i make the customers be proactive. they want to climb? i got a harness and a mystic aquarium shirt. they wanna know how much it is and if their kid can climb they have to come up to me and ask.
but i REALLY hate it when i get those big camps of kids, and the counselor is over 18 (meaning that they can sign the waiver for their campers) and then i've got this huge line of people all wanting to climb. and it's hot there. let me tell you. i bake in the freakin' sun. it suxs.
and a couple days ago, i climbed up the wall next to someone who was having a little trouble near the top and coached them the rest of the way. they came back a couple seconds after they left and palmed me a five like in the movies and said "thanks man." that's just what i do when someone's having trouble and there's like no one waiting. and a little later, this woman just gives me a couple dollars!! and then i think "tip jar!!" well, in actuality, it was more like a tip cup holder, but you know what i mean. we have a couple of those fold up, canvas lawn chairs, and i made a little sign that said "TIPS thank you". i made like $15 in tips, but ollie said that i couldn't have that anymore cause the aquarium could kick him out for having it. i got to keep the tips, but i can't do it anymore.
yeah, so i'm actually working at the gym right now, which is how i can update this thing. and i'm bored. and am going to be here for another 5 hours. jenn might visit which would make me pretty happy, cause it always makes my day when i see anyone i know visit me when i'm working.
