Summary: Kangteuk are the picture perfect couple, until Leeteuk gets them into a situation involving a few children who have minds of their own.
A/N: If you haven’t read the prologue or any of the previous chapters they can be found on my profile.
Leeteuk almost immediately swooped up the child into his arms, and for a moment Kangin was scared. He had seen what the child had done to Ji Yong’s arm and that was only for going near him, but Sungmin allowed himself to be picked up by Leeteuk and then cradled in his arms.
“He’s so cute!” Kangin flinched and moved forward ready to take the child from his husband, still slightly worried. “Hi Sungmin, I’m Leeteuk.” The child smiled cutely in his arms and Kangin smiled as well.
So the kid had good judgment in people. “He was in the warehouse, there was no one there for him, and I don’t even have a last name.” Leeteuk looked up from the child and frowned.
“Why was he even there at all?”
“… It’s going to take some explaining, I’m not even completely sure myself.” Leeteuk accepted the answer and turned back to Sungmin smiling.
“Would you like to go meet your brothers?”
“5-7-6?” Leeteuk blinked.
“No…. Kangin?”
“They don’t have names, just numbers. It’s probably someone he knew when he was being trained…” Leeteuk looked even more confused.
“What?”
“I’m going into the office.” He turned around to open the door . “I’ll be back be careful Sungmin is… strong.”
Leeteuk looked down at the child and then back to Kangin nodding. “I’m going to have Ji Yong to come over.” And Kangin left. Leeteuk’s eyes traveled back down to the innocent looking child in his arms.
“You’re a bit of a mystery aren’t you.” Leeteuk set him down on his own feet and the child looked around the living room. It was a bit of a mess, toys and such everywhere. “Your brothers are probably in their rooms, did you want to go see them.” Sungmin looked back up at Leeteuk and shrugged, when the door bell rang. “Let me answer that.” He opened and Ji Yong waltzed in.
“Hi Leeteuk, Kangin asked me to come and…” Sungmin darted across the room and kicked Ji Yong in the shin effectively ruining the mans balance so he could get him on his level. Sungmin then successfully twisted his arm behind his back. “…ouch.”
“Sungmin?! What are you?!”
“It’s all good Leeteuk! He’s just threatened by me, oh and Kangin told him to do this. Meet your new security system. Hi again Sungmin.” The child smiled at him from over his shoulder.
“Kangin told him too?”
“Yep, your husband told him to behave, except in my case. Sungmin can I have my arm back?” The child looked up at Leeteuk. He nodded frantically, and Ji Yong was free. “That’s my boy. You’re going to be in the private investigative business one day with skills like that.” The child’s hair was ruffled and Sungmin beamed.
“So Kangin went to go figure out more about him?” Ji Yong asked letting go of the child’s head. Leeteuk shrugged.
“I was hoping you might have some answers actually.”
“Nope, other than this little child here is a human weapon in training.” He looked at Sungmin who had taken to examining his surroundings once more.
“Is he dangerous?” Leeteuk’s eyes widened.
“Nah, he obeys orders, as you can tell with the arm hold incident. He wont hurt anyone unless provoked.” Leeteuk immediately thought of Donghae. “But don’t worry, the kids wont be his usual victims so they should be safe.” Leeteuk nodded and tried to smile.
“So shall we introduce him to the other brats?” Leeteuk scoffed at his children being called brats but Ji Yong had already stood up and was motioning for them to follow.
Sungmin followed slightly behind the two adults. He had been trained to deal with many different situations and people. But he was in uncharted territory now. They took him to a door behind which he could hear laughter and voices, two of them, but the movements sounded like there were more than two people in the room. He stood back as Leeteuk opened the door and glanced in staying behind until both men entered. He saw that his calculations had been close their were more than two children and only two of them were talking.
Leeteuk cleared his throat, “boy’s this is your new brother, Sungmin.” The children looked up, all four of them. The smiled and the two who were talking waved spastically. “I have to go call Kangin, so you guys should let him play with you and be nice.” The boys nodded and Leeteuk smiled. “Good, well I’ll come back in a minute to check up on you.”
“You’re calling Kangin… what for?” Ji Yong followed noisily after Leeteuk as he left the children to themselves.
‘You came just in time.’ Sungmin turned to see the one of them smiling at him. ‘I’m Donghae by the way; this is Han Geng, he doesn’t talk; that’s Yesung, he’s shy; and this is monkey.’
‘I’m not a monkey! My name is Eunhyuk.’ Sungmin nodded trying to remember the traits Donghae had given each boy.
‘We have another brother but he doesn’t play with us. His name is Kyuhyun, he’s really boring. Anyways we were just trying to think of what to play any ideas?’
Sungmin shrugged anytime he had played back at the warehouse he had gotten in trouble, and the only games he had played before the warehouse had been fighting oriented, and none of the boys in this room seemed strong enough to actually pose a potential match for him.
‘I think house would be a good game.’ Sungmin blinked at Donghae he had never heard the game before.
‘But Yesung doesn’t like house remember.’ Now he turned to Eunhyuk still slightly confused.
‘Fine, well just change up the rules is all… maybe he didn’t like being the girl… We can play…’ He was concentrating and Sungmin tried to search through his words to find out any hints to how to play house. ‘Grown ups that’s it!’ Sungmin and Eunhyuk blinked.
‘What?’
‘Silly monkey, we can just pretend to be grown ups, no mom or dad.’ Sungmin seemed to be the only one to see the boy Donghae had pointed out as Yesung cringe at the word mom, which he stored for later use. ‘We can have the cat,’ Donghae pointed at Yesung; ‘the baby,’ Han Geng; ‘the woman,’ Sungmin; ‘The monkey,’ Eunhyuk; ‘and the monkey trainer,’ himself. ‘That just leaves us with no man…’ He sighed and looked thoughtful again.
‘We don’t need a monkey.’ Eunhyuk looked hopeful.
‘Don’t be ridiculous, of course we need a monkey, what would be the point of the trainer with no monkey.’
‘Then maybe we don’t need either.’
‘Monkey, now you’re being stupid of course we need the monkey and the trainer.’
‘Well what about the cat?’
‘We need him too.’
‘The baby?’
‘Yes, we need them all! Maybe we could just play without the man…’
‘What about Kyuhyun.’ Every one in the room turned to Sungmin and Donghae started laughing.
‘He’d never play with us are you crazy?’
‘He’s never meet him before Donghae.’ Eunhyuk looked scolding down at the boy who was laughing like a mad man on the ground. ‘Kyu is not very friendly… He’s never played with us before, even when we offer.’
‘He’s no fun.’ Donghae stood up smiling.
‘Where is he?’
‘His room probably… doing another puzzle or something, like I said boring.’ Sungmin turned to Donghae and smiled back.
‘I’ll go get him where’s his room?’
‘Two doors down that way.’ Sungmin smiled at Eunhyuk before he left the room. He counted as he walked by doors and found the one he was looking for. It was closed and when he listened he could hear what sounded like paper flipping. He decided against knocking and merely barged right in.
‘Who are you?’ Sungmin glanced up to see a boy younger than himself sitting at a chair on top of several books, with one in his hand.
‘I’m Sungmin, you’re going to come play with me.’
Kyuhyun smiled. ‘You think so, don’t you?’
‘I know so. Come on.’
‘Listen I don’t play it’s a waste of time.’
Sungmin smiled and stepped closer. ‘And what you’re doing now is any better.’
“I’m reading thank you very much, it’s a better way to spend your time than playing games.’
‘Games teach you important thing’s like: how to knock a person out; what pressure points render your victim unconscious; how to take down an opponent with a single kick; and different tactical moves like that.’
Kyuhyun blinked. ‘What games have you been playing?’
Sungmin didn’t answer he just yanked the books from underneath Kyuhyun causing the boy fly off the chair and his book to topple noisily to the desk.
Sungmin managed to catch him sort of. He had his arms around the boys waist and prevented him from hitting the ground anyway. He might have been holding him at an odd angle though.
Kyuhyun tried to wiggle out of the boys grip but it was futile Sungmin was much stronger than him. ‘We’re one short and you’re going to be that one.’
“I don’t want to be that one.’ He tried wiggling some more but Sungmin dragged him out of his room and down two doors into Donghae’s. The other children looked up shocked as Sungmin came in carrying Kyuhyun at an awkward position with his head only inches above the ground.
‘You got him.’ Donghae looked shocked.
Sungmin smiled. ‘Told you I would.’ He set Kyuhyun down and immediately grabbed the boy’s hand holding it just so that if Kyuhyun tried to get away pain would shoot up his arm. He glared at the older boy.
‘Well Kyu I guess you’re the man then, and Sungmin is the woman.’ Donghae smiled happily and Kyuhyun turned his death glare onto the happy little monkey trainer. “Now all we need is a story to act out… What about… aliens attacked the earth and the only four remaining people are the monkey trainer, the baby, the woman, and the man. And their job is to repopulate and rebuild the earth.’ They all stared at Donghae in silence.
‘I have a better idea, the woman finds out that her husband has gotten amnesia and doesn’t remember anything. So it’s her job to remind him of his life that he forgot.’ Now they all looked at Sungmin in silence and Kyuhyun twitched. ‘It’s a good plot I saw it on a drama…’
‘All in favor of Sungmin’s story…’ Hankyung Yesung and Sungmin all raised their hands.
‘Those in favor of mine.’ Donghae and Eunhyuk’s were the sole hands in the air. ‘Kyu didn’t vote.’ Donghae turned his eyes to the man who was busy trying to figure out how to get around Sungmin’s wrist lock. He looked up and sighed.
‘I think they’re both equally stupid.’
‘You have to pick one we have a tie.’ Donghae attempted his pout that always got him whatever he wanted from Leeteuk.
‘No technically, If I voted for your story then wed have a tie, but I feel yours is far to preposterous to believe, and Sungmin’s is just ludicrous… So I’m not voting.’
‘Then mine wins!’ Sungmin smiled ‘Sorry Donghae.’
‘Next time you’ll see.’
They broke off into groups Donghae began ordering the monkey to do ridiculous things; Han Geng just stood near them and watched; Yesung trailed off on his own somewhere in the corner; and Sungmin was left to deal with Kyuhyun.
‘Now if I let go of your hand you better not try and take off. I’m much faster than you.’ Kyuhyun sighed realizing it to be the truth.
‘Alright I won’t run but I’m not playing either.’
Sungmin smirked. ‘Oh yes you are. Honey you’re back.’ He flung his arms around Kyuhyun’s neck and threw his voice up a couple octaves.
‘What are you even talking about you freak?’
‘You mean you don’t remember me? Honey how could you forget?’
Kyuhyun looked at Sungmin as though he had flipped his lid. ‘We’ve been together for seven years now, sure we’ve had our troubles but that’s behind us now.’
‘I think you’re a flipping lunatic. You’re making this stuff up.’
‘I can’t believe you forgot.’ Sungmin hugged the boy tighter around the neck just short of restricting his airways. ‘the concussion from the bowling ball did enough damage, to erase seven years.’
Kyuhyun sighed and tried to not talk. ‘You’re speechless, does that mean you remember?’ he still stayed silent. ‘Or are you back in a comma?’ He actually restricted his airways this time but only momentarily. Kyuhyun spluttered the moment he regained his breath. The only safe way with Sungmin appeared to be to play along.
‘I don’t remember…’ he mumbled.
‘Well we can fix that.’ Sungmin released his hug and held Kyuhyun at arms length. ‘We can fix it, you still love me don’t you?’
Kyuhyun blinked unsure of what Sungmin wanted him to say. ‘…yes…’
‘You don’t sound so sure.’
Kyuhyun sighed. ‘I don’t remember you… How could I love you if I don’t remember you.’ Sungmin smiled.
‘We can fix that too!’ He hugged Kyuhyun again and he just stayed limp allowing himself to be hugged.
Donghae and Eunhyuk had broken out into a dance that Han Geng was imitating. Yesung was playing with something in the corner and Kyuhyun was forced to be a part of the ridiculous drama Sungmin was trying to reenact. He was saved however by the door that opened.
“Boy’s we have to go see Kangin at the office. I have to do something for work.” He smiled seeing Kyuhyun wrapped in Sungmin’s arms. “Kyuhyun, so you’ve meet Sungmin. I’m glad you two get along so well.” The toddler mentally screamed but said nothing fearing Sungmin might snap his neck.
They were loaded into the car and driven, badly, to Kangin’s office building. Leeteuk shuffled them inside kissing Kangin quickly on the cheek before taking off. He sighed and looked over the six faces that were watching him almost expectantly.
“I still have a lot of research to do so you guys are going to have to entertain yourselves…” They all blinked and he groaned.
“Key! I have to run to the file room, watch them… and don’t be like your slacker of a boyfriend… or you’ll end up cleaning up paper from every surface of this room.” The man behind his reception desk nodded vigorously. Kangin nodded as well and then left, hoping that Key was at least semi-responsible.
They children turned to the man who was supposedly watching over them “Hi guy’s.” He smiled awkwardly. “We don’t have to many kid things but there’s a chess board… although I suppose you don’t know how to play chess… I’ll get you guys some paper and pencils… you all like to draw right?” half of the cluster nodded and Key smiled slightly relieved. “Okay I’ll be right back okay, don’t get into anything.”
The children looked at each other momentarily and then dispersed, Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Han Geng to Kangin’s office; Yesung to the window; and Kyuhyun to the chess board.
He examined the glass pieces carefully before moving one of the pawns forward. ‘I always use my knights first… it spices up the game a bit.’ Sungmin smirked walking towards him and Kyuhyun’s eyebrow went up.
‘You know how to play chess?’
‘Yeah, it’s all tactical. I’m good with that. Want to play?’
Kyuhyun smiled arrogantly. ‘You honestly think you could beat me?’
‘Watch me.’ He moved his left knight in the L shape and the game began. It lasted about fifteen minutes. Key had returned, noticed half the children missing, and ran off to try and round up the other three. They were still moving back and forth when he returned with the others.
‘Check mate.’ Kyuhyun stopped looking at Sungmin’s hand that was containing his king.
‘How, what?’
‘You made several stupid mistakes, it wasn’t hard. You moved your knight here making your defense weak and when you removed your queen… well it all just fell apart for you.’
Kyuhyun looked down at the board again in disbelief how had he been beaten. ‘You’re really boring you know. You lost suck it up. I’m going to go play with them.’ Sungmin left Kyuhyun to analyze the board, which he didn’t leave even when Kangin tried rounding them up.
Eventually he had to be picked up and taken to the car where Sungmin smirked at him. ‘Still can’t believe it? You’re a sore loser.’
‘How did you beat me at a logic puzzle.’
‘It’s tactics as well. That’s what I’m good at.’ Sungmin shrugged.
Kangin broke down and bought them fast food for dinner although he made them promise not to tell Leeteuk, and went short of burning the wrappers to hide the evidence. It was late so he got them dressed and in bed, all on his own before booting up his laptop to do a bit more research.

Donghae lay in his bed looking at the ceiling. He had to wait a bit longer to sneak into Eunhyuk’s room. He had to wait until the coast was clear and at the moment it wasn’t. His room wasn’t as cold anymore, possibly from the addition of a raccoon and another body but it still wasn’t comfortable.
He didn’t mind Yesung, but he wasn’t at all like Eunhyuk. And he certainly wasn’t going to sleep in Yesung’s bed. He switched to his side and looked at Yesung from across the room. He was asleep, dead asleep, and Donghae didn’t understand it. Without monkey, or at least someone he couldn’t fall asleep let alone as quickly as Yesung managed.
He sighed slightly jealous of him. It was then that the idea came. ‘water, warm water. Just dip his hand in it and…’
‘That’s not a good idea.’
‘What the... huh? Who’s in here, Eunhyuk?’
‘nope, just your conscious.’
‘my consequence…’
‘No Donghae your conscious.’
‘What’s a consequence?’
‘A conscious, I’m the one who tells you what you should and shouldn’t do… you now like right from wrong.’
‘Ohhh… does everyone have a consequence.’
‘They should. If not they’re bad people.’
‘Oh… so why can’t I play a trick on Yesung?’
‘What has he ever done to you?’
‘Well, nothing. But I play tricks on Eunhyuk all the time and you haven’t stopped me before.’
“Eunhyuk isn’t fragile like Yesung is.’
‘Fragile?’
‘Yesung is sensitive, he’s hurt easily. You have to be nice to him, nicer than you are to Eunhyuk and Han Geng, at least until he toughens up a little.’
‘When will that be?’
‘I don’t know.’
‘Then can I dip Eunhyuk’s hand in warm water?’
‘You shouldn’t.’
‘But it would be so funny!’
‘All I’m going to say on that is you would be in the same bed as him.’
‘oh…ewww… Thanks consequence.’
‘Your welcome Donghae… And I’d wait a little longer to leave. I don’t think Kangin’s in his room yet.’
‘You can read my mind too?’
‘Yes Donghae I can read your mind.’
‘Awesome… how do I become a consequence?’
‘You already are.’
‘ What… I can’t read peoples minds.’
‘Never mind Donghae, just don’t play tricks on Yesung.’
‘Alright, thanks consequence.’
‘Any time.’

Kangin was searching through a website he would have never imagined himself being at. It wasn’t a surprise that he jumped when Leeteuk walked through the front door.
“Kangin… you’re still doing work?”
He blushed, he couldn’t much believe it himself but he was blushing. “Well yes… but let me explain.”
Leeteuk’s eyebrow knit together “Explain?” He walked over to where his husband was with the lap top perched on the armrest of his chair trying to sneak a glimpsed of the screen. Kangin tried shifting it away but Leeteuk was to quick, or maybe he was just being clumsy.
“Kangin, why are you on a sight advertising a whore house.”
“I told you I had to explain.” Kangin trailed off looking at his keyboard face still slightly pink.
“Well start then…”
“I was looking up the meaning of Sungmin’s number’s you know… and people who sell human weapons.”
“Human weapons?”
“Oh yeah, well Sungmin was being trained to become a human weapon from birth it’s a common underground practice, but I’ll come back to that. As I was saying human weapons tend to have similar codes. The first number is always the age so that changes every year. And the third number it their rank. They have seven of them one being the weakest and seven the strongest. Sungmin is three, and in the sixth rank, so he was good at what he did.”
“Then what does the middle number mean, and why are you looking up escorts online?”
“I was getting to that.” Kangin sighed and shut the laptop. “The third number varies on the supplier. It usually has something to do with the birth mother, you know so they can trace their product… kind of like a dog’s pedigree. With some minor hacking and some help from Ji Yong I was able to get the information from the supplier Sungmin went through. His mother was one of the better breeders, they don’t give any information on the father but I found the address for her… it just so happened to be…”
“A whore house?” Kangin nodded and Leeteuk began laughing.
“You’re not mad?”
“Kangin, did you honestly believe I suspected you of ordering an escort from an all women’s call house? They never were your style.” Kangin chuckled slightly too, before growing serious. “I’m going to have to try and make it my style.”
Leeteuk blinked. “Why?”
“I have to go and try to find her… maybe she wants Sungmin or at least to see him occasionally.” Leeteuk nodded in understanding.
“Well you might need some help… Sad though how all of our friends are homosexual as well…” Kangin scoffed.
“Are you calling me flaming.”
“No dear… it’s just…a tad obvious you aren’t straight.” Kangin gapped. “Seunghyun could probably help you… he’s the most inconspicuous. I’ll call him if you like.”
“I’m plenty straight… appearing.” Leeteuk chuckled again bending at the waist to peck Kangin on the cheek. “Sure you are love. I’m just going to call Seunghyun in the morning, just for moral support.” Another peck and Leeteuk walked off towards their bedroom a slight extra sway in his hips. Kangin didn’t notice however he was to busy trying to find ways he could be un-masculine.
A/N II: Okay so a tad longer than a week… I’m sorry. Honestly I expected to have this up sooner, but things don’t always work out the way I plan… actually they never do, strange. Anyhow… I have a few matters to address;
1. Who wants to see some much deserved ‘romance’ between the Kangteuk couple?
2. Would anyone like to see something particular, or have any ideas for me to add in chapters to come?
3. Just because I like odd numbers, who wants to know… my answer to the universe?
