‘He promised…’ Eunhyuk stared at the door his brother had just disappeared behind. Tablo had never left him before. He knew that Tablo was coming back, but where had he gone? And when he came back, was he going to stay? Eunhyuk’s head hurt to many questions.
“Eunhyuk…” Leeteuk was worried. The boy in his arms hadn’t made a noise for a good fifteen minutes, he was just staring at the door, even his voice didn’t pull the child away from whatever thoughts he had. Kangin moved to take him from his husband but Leeteuk shook his head. “Eunhyuk, he’s coming back, you’ll see. Tomorrow he’ll be here to play with you, just like he always is.”
Eunhyuk didn’t say anything he merely slumped over in Leeteuk’s arms due to exhaustion. “Bed time I think.” Kangin said placing a hand on his husband’s back. “For all of us.” Leeteuk nodded and wrapped Eunhyuk tightly in a hug.
“Can he sleep with us? Just for now, until we get him a bed with a rail… He could fall out, or….”
Kangin smiled “Leeteuk I was going to suggest that myself.”

Kangin awoke from his troubled half sleep to a loud rapping on the door. He was about to quote a line from Edgar Allen Poe’s short story The Raven, when he caught a slight grasp of what time it was.
Having been worried about Eunhyuk he had watched the toddler more so then sleep himself, he had only fallen asleep for a few minutes when he was roused by the door. The fact that it was only five in the morning meant it had to be someone of importance. Or some seriously crazy person, in other words, G-Dragon. He got up carefully trying not to disturb the two peacefully sleeping men laying next to him, which he managed successfully. With a glance back at his husband sleeping curled around Eunhyuk protectively he smiled and sauntered to the door.
As a private investigator, he had taken several precautions when he had purchased their apartment. One of which being the dually useful peep hole he had installed in the door. His job also permitted him to carry a hand gun despite the fact that he only worked minor cases, -Ji Yong was all to happy to take the big ones- and he took comfort knowing it was safely hidden, where he could easily access it, if need be.
He looked through the peep hole for a mere second before opening the door as quickly as he could manage.
“Tablo?”
“Is Eunhyuk still sleeping?” The teenage boy asked casually.
Kangin nodded, unsure of why Tablo was there at five in the morning but none the less welcoming the early riser into his home. “He’s in our bedroom with Leeteuk.”
Tablo steeped in a small smile coming showing on his features despite the dark. “How was he for you last night?” Kangin realized that Tablo had a good gift of asking a particular question without bluntly asking what he wanted to know.
“He seemed a little shocked, and confused, but he fell right asleep in Leeteuk’s arms without a single peep.” Kangin said answering both Tablo’s original, and the unasked question in the same sentence. However it didn’t get the reaction Kangin had expected of the teen. Tablo nodded and stood there awkwardly, leaving them in an uncomfortable silence.
Kangin had never had Leeteuk’s way with people, he was awkward, weather he said something or nothing. He chose to close the door and stand there like Tablo, only increasing the discomfort in the situation.
“Coffee?” he asked after a few minutes, no longer able to take the unease.
“Yes please.” Tablo commented easily as relieved by Kangin’s question. The two men made their way into the kitchen, for some coffee, and an atmosphere that was a bit less painful.

Leeteuk didn’t wake up to the knocking, or Kangin’s disappearance, he didn’t even wake up to the sound of talking. What woke Leeteuk was the sharp pain he felt in his nether regions. A pain that caused him to jolt violently out of sleep and his eyes to fly open.
After a second of analysis the sharp pain seemed to have come from the kick Eunhyuk had directed towards a very sensitive area. Leeteuk swallowed his pain as a good father would and sat up brushing the hair from Eunhyuk’s forehead.
He smelt coffee and heard voices, recognizing them both he smiled and looked back at the slumbering child. Leeteuk didn’t want to leave Eunhyuk to wake up alone so he decided to take him along. He managed scooping him up without waking him up he even was able to get as far as the kitchen.
It appeared however linoleum floors were his undoing, one step on the slick floor and he was going down, with Eunhyuk in his arms. Had it not been for the strong muscular arms that snatched both boys right out of the air and into an equally as muscular chest.
“Good reflexes.” Tablo commented from his spot at the table smiling at his brother and his handlers.
“Thanks.” Kangin said pulling Leeteuk back to his feet. Leeteuk looked down at the child in his arms and watched as his eyes fluttered open.
“You woke him up!” Leeteuk pouted hitting his husband on the arm. Kangin blinked rolled his eyes and released his husbands waist.
“Right, and your tripping had nothing to do with it.” He mumbled walking over to the coffee pot to pour another cup.
“Good morning Eunhyukie.” Leeteuk cooed when his eyes met with the two-year-old’s. Eunhyuk gave a soft smile and began to look around. When his eyes landed on Tablo, the soft smile morphed into a full gum grin.
Tablo returned his smile and to everyone’s surprise Eunhyuk did not fight to be freed from Leeteuk’s arms but rather leaned back into the clumsy male’s chest.
“Breakfast?” Kangin asked once again breaking the silence.
“Oh I’ll help!”
“But Leeteuk you have Eunhyuk and he seems so comfortable.” Tablo butt in quickly. “Besides, I wanted to help Kangin, you know, to thank you guys.” He got up and walked over to stand by Kangin. Leeteuk smiled.
“Alright Eunhyuk and I’ll just go play in the living room then.” Leeteuk said before taking the child away.
“Nice save.” Kangin complimented once Leeteuk was out of ear shot.
“I saw what was suppose to be for dinner the first night.”

Tablo and Kangin served breakfast and cleaned up afterwards. All through which Kangin complained that Leeteuk got to play with Eunhyuk while he did all the work. Tablo simply chuckled.
But soon the kitchen was cleaned and it was time for Tablo to leave. He re-explained to Eunhyuk that he was leaving. This time Eunhyuk smiled, nodded, and hugged Tablo goodbye. Leeteuk and Kangin had held their breath after the door closed as if waiting for Eunhyuk to turn back into a shell, but he turned to them and smiled.
“Pway?”
Leeteuk sighed and Kangin smiled. “We can later Eunhyuk, but now we have to get dressed and go shopping.” Leeteuk told him, ruffling his hair like usual before swooping the boy up.
“You keep carrying him around like that he’s going to get spoiled.” Kangin smirked at his husband who was carrying Eunhyuk to their room.
Dressing, a considerably easy task, was complicated by the fact that Kangin kept tickling both Eunhyuk and Leeteuk. But after an unfair war, in which Eunhyuk had ended up in mismatching socks, a backwards pull-up, and his shirt inside out, they all ended up dressed, in the car, and on their way to the first store.
Kangin had pointed out that Eunhyuk could not sleep with them forever, so their first destination was the furniture store. Leeteuk looked while Kangin and Eunhyuk decided to play hide-and-seek around the bunk bed’s, something Leeteuk had disapproved of.
“Are you going to help me?” Leeteuk asked examining a toddler bed that could be converted to a full twin size bed when need be.
“That one’s nice.” Kangin commented still searching for the hiding brunette hard task due to his overall size, or lack thereof.
“Kangin it’s purple!”
“And?” Kangin stated looking underneath the bed closest to him.
“Eunhyuk’s a boy! Never mind, just carry on with whatever you were doing originally.”
“Thanks Leeteuk.” Kangin said before running off in search of the toddler.
Leeteuk had found the bed he liked along with matching wardrobe, he had even gotten as far to ordering it without Kangin’s help. He was feeling rather proud, when he went off to go tell Kangin they could leave.
He found Kangin crawling around in the sofa section. “Uhm… Kangin?”
“Leeteuk.” The man said snapping up immediately. “Have you seen Eunhyuk?”
“I thought you were watching him!”
“I was we were playing hide-and-seek, and you asked me a question and I lost him.”
“Don’t try pinning this on me! Our first day alone and you lose him! Kangin how could you?”
“Calm down he has to be in the store somewhere? We’ll just have to look for him.”
“Isn’t that what you’ve been doing?”
“Well yes, but this is a huge store!”
“Alright if we split up we can…” Leeteuk broke of hearing laughter. Not just any laughter, little kid laughter. Kangin’s eyes widened and he smiled relieved.
Putting his finger up to his lips Kangin addressed his husband. “I’ll go this way you check that way.” They split up and both went opposite ways around the bunk bed the laughter had come from.
They easily spotted the laughing brunette and Kangin was even able to sneak up behind him. He inched closer and grabbed the boy who jumped and only started laughing harder. Kangin picked him up and tickled him. “You’re a good hider.”
Eunhyuk still in fits of laughter couldn’t stop and Leeteuk smiled. First family crisis over.
The boxes, yes the boxes, had been stuffed into Kangin’s SUV. What Leeteuk hadn’t know about his purchases was the, assembly required. Kangin had huffed about all the work this would now require of him. Leeteuk had just ignored this and focused on fitting the large, and surprisingly heavy boxes into Kangin’s car, while Eunhyuk watched from the roof of the car(Kangin’s idea).
With a little help from the store personnel, they managed to get the boxes in with little hassle. They got into the car and were about to drive off when Leeteuk stopped his husband. “Doesn’t it feel like we’re forgetting something?”
Kangin thought for a moment his eyes gazing over the large purchases, when he remember quite suddenly for whom the purchases had been made.
“Eunhyuk!” he yelled jumping out of the car. The boy who had just been called looked at him and smiled.
“Rilla!”
Kangin grabbed the boy and hugged him to his chest. “We need to get you a car seat buddy.” He said trying to make light the fact that he had forgotten his son on the roof of his car and almost driven away like that.
True to Kangin’s word their next stop was a baby department store, where you could get everything from diapers and formula to actual babies. Just kidding (That would be illegal!).
This time Eunhyuk could play with the crayons and coloring books the store provided, to keep the children entertained whilst their parents drained their pockets.
They got everything they needed including: a car seat, clothes, toys, books, and parental help magazines.
“This one suits you Kangin.” Leeteuk said holding out a yellow book with a black diagonal stripe.
“Parenting, for dummies?”
“Yeah it’s probably got some pretty good tips in there for not leaving your kid on the roof of a car.”
“Hey you didn’t notice either.”
“Actually I was the one to point it out, you probably would have drove off with him up there.”
“Would not!” Leeteuk sent him a disbelieving look before moving on. Kangin gave the book a second glance before putting it on top of the already substantial mound in the basket.
They paid and decided that the day would not be complete without dinner out. Yet another thing Leeteuk had thought up to break Kangin’s wallet. Really, he had to wonder how Leeteuk could manage without his paycheck.
Eunhyuk managed to fall asleep in his dinner yet again, only this time landing in his rice. They had to carry him to the car, and then into the house. Leeteuk placed him in the middle of their large queen sized bed for safety.
He then proceeded to Eunhyuk’s room with the intent of helping Kangin set up the furniture. In reality he only managed to get the directions lost, the screws scattered everywhere, and a few pieces put together that didn’t fit. In the end Leeteuk decided to instead put the clothes away. They were working diligently until around 2 in the morning around which time Leeteuk had gotten all of the clothes put away.
Kangin still had a good deal to do, so he simply kissed his husband goodnight and ushered him off to bed.
Leeteuk almost made it to his door when the phone chose to ring, he cursed it hoping that it wouldn’t wake the sleeping boy in his room and rushed to it. His husband had however beaten him to it. He walked into the room scattered with pieces of wood that had several similarities to a lumber yard.
“Yeah, he’s about to go to bed can’t it wait?” Kangin listened to the person and nodded. He extended the phone to husband worry evident on his face. “They say it’s urgent.”
“Hello.” Leeteuk took the phone from his confused husband. Kangin only knew that Leeteuk’s work had called him extremely late, or early to some.
Leeteuk didn’t say anything else to give Kangin hints as to what might be so urgent either his face just dropped lower and lower as the conversation continued.
“I’ll be right there.” Was the only thing Leeteuk said as he hung up the phone.
“What was all that about?”
Leeteuk looked at his husband sadly. “I have to help him.”
Had Kangin not known his husband as well as he did he would have had to ask further questions. But he knew what his husband meant. “What happened?”
“A robbery. His parents were murdered. He has no one else.”
