I spent the day at the SD West conference and heard the cheesiest thing I've heard in months. The presenter was talking about drawbacks of the null object design pattern, and he was pointing out that sometimes it can be semantically tricky. He made the analogy that it wouldn't make any sense to assert that all people are married but that some people are married to the null spouse. And then some guy from the audience fired back, "But isn't that the whole idea behind annulment?"
