I've been sleeping up to and beyond twelve hours each night, and still I'm tired. While it definitely has something to do with what I've been drinking - anything and everything - I've been having these crazy dreams, dozens of them each night. Most of them are weird and unpleasant, if not outright horrifying.

I was a nanny for three boys, living in a nice house in an elegant, forested neighborhood. The eldest was maybe twelve, the middle son nine-ish, and the smallest was the size and shape of a six-year-old, but smarter and more articulate than the eldest. The mother played no part in the dream, but the father was disturbing.

This house had rats and mice in it of the white laboratory variety, and the father wanted badly to be rid of them. The way he set about this was to take some of the little mouse corpses and hang them by the necks in the attic. He did this with an eye for design, little white bodies dangling at all different heights. This was not somethig he wanted his sons to see; I was told not to let them up there under any circumstances. So of course they went into the attic, crawling through a hole in the ceiling that appeared the way things in dreams do.

I looked outside, and there were three bodies hanging from a tree outside. Arranged with an eye for design, dangling from three different lengths of rope.

I woke up after that.
