This was one of the most fun I've had at a show that we didn't play very well at. I've been a fan of Pop Project for quite a while, and was excited to finally be able to see them. They did some great tunes and had the Javelins come onto stage to join them for a cover of The Beatles "Oh Darlin'". They nailed it! It had so much energy and having to follow that didn't help. The sound guy, who sang in my band in high school (haven't seen him much since so needless to say I was surprised to see him) couldn't get our sample to work for our beats on the first song. We had to rearrange our set. We were very sloppy, but still had fun, and people were very nice about telling us they enjoyed it. Pop Project went back .. us and tore it up. They had a break in a song where they stopped, instructed everyone to go to the bar at the back of the venue, and run back towards the stage when the song kicked back in. Amazing. They closed with us and the Javelins joining them in covering "Mr. Jones" by Counting Crows.
Yeah....I'm totally not kidding.
Javelins finished the set and were great. I had to work the next morning so I sat out the Deastro show at the CAID.
Good times.
