Jdrama babble.

Slowly catching up on sleep. ... extremely slowly. I have no one to blame but myself (or maybe a certain muse) but I'm so tired. XD

Gonna babble about jdramas a bit. >.> I don't know what people consider spoilers (since I have an oddly strict definition myself) so I'm just going to cut everything.

Zettai Kareshi: Ugh, can I first talk about how much I've MISSED MIZUSHIMA HIRO and am so glad to see him in a full drama again? ;_; And with such a main role! Yaaay. I guess he had some random guest starrings inbetween Hana Kimi and now, but I didn't care to follow those, really. ANYWAY. He's hot. I think his role is perfect, but I also think he should've switched with the main guy... Hayami? I dunno, that guy doesn't do much for me at all. I like that he's Ridiculously Tall, but something about his acting bugs me (I'm hoping it's just the whole awkward robot thing, and that'll improve)... and I have to admit I'm not finding him all that attractive. >___> His smile is a bit creepy. Er, but anyway, superficiality aside I'm liking the drama so far. :o I never did pick up the manga even though I meant to, but I rather like not knowing where this is going. Also, I died laughing that freaking Oscar from Hana Kimi was in the first episode. Also, the main girl is Aibu Saki, a.k.a. YAYOI FROM ATTENTION PLEASE SHE IS SO CUTE. And the bartender is the teacher from AP! XD That amuses me more than it should.

Last Friends: I'm totally in love with this drama. It's really refreshing to see one that's pretty deep and with much more interesting characters than usual. Already I care a lot about all of them (yes, even Sousuke) and am looking forward to what I hope is going to be a whole lot of exposition about their respective problems. :o I have to admit I wasn't believing Sousuke's sudden douchey turnaround, but if they end up explaining it well (read: believably) then it'll be fantastic. His character gives me CHILLS. The scene with the scissors?! Just... daaaamn. I know there's a certain amount of bias involved because... it's Ryo, but the truth is I think it's a great role for him since it's so different than his usual slightly-acidic love interest roles. >> That's why I hope they round out the character a lot more, I think it's really good experience for him. ... /theater major.

And of course, I have the most to say about Osen: Hell yeah I watched the first episode without subtitles. 8D I was too excited about this drama not to, especially since it's still unclear if anyone's going to sub it... the most I've seen is someone said they would as long as they could find a translator, so I hope they do. :\ ANYWAY. I'm going to preface this babble with saying that whenever I refer to the manga what I mean is the first two chapters of it, since that seems to be all that's trans/scanlated. XD Though that's why I opted to watch the first episode at all, figuring it would follow at least for a little bit. ... it didn't, really, but the main plot was easy enough to follow as it is, and the manga still helped me figure out some of the less-important bits (like Osen selling all of Ezaki's stuff jfkesljakeGAHAHAHAHA I'm sorry but Uchi's face there was FREAKING PRICELESS. I died a lot).

Okay this is where I'm going to risk venturing into sounding like a manga elitist, even though I've only read the first two chapters of the manga and watched one (unsubtitled!) drama episode, but. XD I'm not sure I like the choice of Aoi Yu as Osen. I think she's a fantastic actress, but just doesn't... fit. I'm not sure if it's her characterization or the adaptation, but I feel like the character got weakened a lot. In the manga Osen is so in-your-face and... well, sexy, but in the drama she came across as more of a naive airhead than an alcoholic. What I liked about the manga is it seemed like (and I could be totally wrong) Osen knew about modern techniques and simply chose not to use them, which I think is a lot stronger than in the drama, where she just looks like an idiot for not knowing how to use a microwave. I dunno, maybe as the manga progresses Osen really does look more like an idiot, but I got the impression she chooses to be different, and isn't just plain backwards. Again, take all that with a ton of salt because I'm no expert on the series in either form. 8D

All that said, I love Ezaki. SHOCKING, I KNOW. But the surprising part is I seriously wanted to smack him sometimes, which I think clearly means Uchi is doing a good job at making him an overconfident ass, because how difficult must it be to make me want to smack Uchi. C'mon. I like his acting in this a lot more than I liked it in Isshun. I love the boy, but he overacts the funny stuff way too much. Maybe it's a Japanese thing in general, but it drives me a little nuts. XD This character is a bit more serious, so there's much less of that. Um, and he's freaking hot. I was discussing this with Ka, I'm totally baffled as to why we get no shirtless shots of him. 8| They had the perfect chance when Ezaki was hanging out in the tub, but nuu. It's not like he got pudgy. XD We were speculating more about his surgery scar, but of course that's difficult to say. We were also speculating that maybe he's just a girl and doesn't want to be shown shirtless. 8D ... wait, I was supposed to be talking about the drama, not Uchi shirtless.

Oops, I should be working.
