last night, I went down to the united methodist church and saw INVISIBLE CHILDREN. Its a film that documents the effects of a northern ugandan rebel army. Filmmakers discovered hundreds of children sleeping in the streets of the city, seeking refuge from their fear of abduction by the army. The film depicts their encounter with these children, the destructive political forcces that keep them in fear, and a world that renders them invisible.
www.invisiblechildren.com When I saw the film, I did not know what to expect. All i knew was that there was some kind of genocide going on with the children in Uganda. But now I know that this country needs to take charge and help them. When i donated my 20 dollars to them, I felt so much pride because they said 40 dollars could sponsor a child to get an education and a safe place to live. I did make a difference and I still plan to screen the film at my temple soon. My grandparents are holocaust survivors and they know how it feels to have absolutely nothing. They were stripped of their rights, tatooed with a number, and given maybe 1 slice of stale bread every day. The kids in Uganda literally have nothing. They dont even own the rags of clothing on their skin. Pres. Bush needs to take the soldiers out of Iraq and start helping those who need it most in Uganda.Anyways, evryone should definitely go to that site and check it out.
