Today was not my day to venture out into the world. Dropping Chia off at work turned into a much bigger hassle than expected, due to the fact that some building on 2nd and Market was on fire. My slightly peevish mood at this point was only made worse by the 50-car funeral procession I crossed paths with less than a mile from my house, slowing me down to a crawl on a road that is normally speedster alley. It took me an hour and a half to make what should have been a 45 minute round trip. Urgh.. just thinking about it now is making me angry.
I dropped Evelyn off at her house in Norristown, which is another 1/2 hour away... and stopped at Target on the way back, avoiding the eastbound Schuylkill altogether, since it was, as a radio announcer put it, a "parking lot." I bought a delicious-smelling candle...saffron & clove. I also bought a pair of decent brown shoes, in keeping with my tendency to only buy either black or brown shoes.
Thank god it's the weekend. I actually have time to do my reading for school this week. Chia's been out of the house all day so I've had plenty of quiet concentration time.
I want a damned iPod. Some form of mp3 player. I can't listen to another vapid conversation on the train without wanting to bang my head against the seat in front of me. Seriously, listening to a Penn girl talk loudly about how long it took her to figure out what 'lol' and 'rofl' stood for was irredeemably asinine. Today it was bad drivers.. yesterday it was bad talkers. I sat in the GSE computer lab for an hour enduring some girl's never-ending cell phone conversation about her "Christian journey" and her not-quite-Democrat-but-not-really-Republican-either political views. I don't think my eyes could have rolled any further back into my skull.
On that note, back to reading. This was a bitchy entry.
