so normally my problem with working at McIver's is the fact that big ass me has to crawl into vessels and pipes smaller than my forearm to set up shots and get back out without knocking anything over or damaging myself too badly. but not tonight. tonight, we were shooting a vessel that is thirty feet across!! yeah, thats right, five times my height and over sixty feet long! big ass piece of metal.

well, normally these things are stable so it doesn't cause too much concern for the crews. but we had to roll this one around because we were shooting the round welds that pretty much follow the circumfrence. the damned pipe kept jumping in place and sounding like it was twisting to pieces. scary thought considering that i'm right next to nearly a ton of metal that might decide to jump its rollers and go squishy to anything in front of it, me included. both my uncle and i were jumping up and nearly running away every time it popped, which happened once every two minutes or so as we spun it.

not a happy camper over that one, and we still have three more to do this week. but at least it means i'll be getting lots of hours for this weekend's trip as i work a simple job during the day and then have two of these three hours shots at night. lots of time reading and getting paid. thats what i love about this job. too bad it doesn't happen this way more often, huh?

anyways, details have changed on getting the garage converted into an apartment styled room for me. turns out that we need to deal with drainage in the front yard instead of raising the level of the concrete like mom originally thought. now i've got to plan something else out to get it working, but i'm not quite sure the best way to pull it off. got some research to do, but at least it means that i should be able to move out there in a slightly more reasonable time-frame. just need to get some work and research done on it.

but okies, it's late and i've got to be up early for work in the morning. nighters.
