Journey to the land of chateaus and flags - Day 5

Sep 15, 2010 19:50

Can a day in Paris possibly not be nice? I don't think so! This feels like the perfect city for me, except I know it's probably way expensive.
So anyway, we got to sleep in a little later today and rest our aching bones. The breakfast at this hotel is way better too, and free!!
Our first port of call was the Musee the Quai Branly. It was filled with old artworks and artifacts from ancient cultures around the world. It was very cool. In the gift shop I was somehow persuaded to buy a straw giraffe thingy because the others were too. But he's cool and pretty. I shall name him Geoffrey after Geoffrey Rush.
Since our tickets for the tower aren't until 8 and it was about 2 at this point, we decided to go on a tour bus. This was really lovely! With classical music blaring in my ears (listen to me, culture nerd!) we cruised through Paris, seeing some lovely sights that I never knew were there. And I finally got to see the Arc De Triumph. It's biiiiig!! Now we're sitting by the tower, killing time and being bugged by illegal tradesmen.
11:15 pm: Well despite the long wait, it was so sooo worth it! I've been up the tower during the day before and found it pretty meh, but it's way better at night! It was a lovely clear night and we saw the sun setting over Paris and the whole city lighting up. It's so unbelievably pretty. Paris really is a dream city. I wish I could never leave.
Just as we got down again, the tower lit up in a light show! It looked like it was being attacked by fairies!!
Oh, my feet really hurt now! And we have an early start tomorrow. Damn...
I'm a bit sad that I missed a phone call from Joonas. I really wanted to hear his voice.
