MCM expo October 2009- Glomping and squeeing.

Oct 26, 2009 20:31

Another great expo! I think this is the sixth one I've been to and they never get boring. Every expo is so different so it's a brand new experience every time. Nothing can compare to the last expo when I met the 2 most gorgous actors ever in a sailor suit. But it was still great!
Let's get this show on the road! Some of my pictures came out blurry so I stole some from Vicky_V (she's my sister so it's ok).
I didn't cosplay this time because last october I wore my Tohru suit and was freezing. I'm sewing frilly bits on my black dress to make a goth loli dress but when I ordered the shoes, there was a problem with my paypal account (namely I forgot my password) so it was cancelled. So I'll wear that next time.
I decided instead to wear the kickass dress I bought in Finland and some accessories. This turned out great because it has nice big pockets for my tickets and phone. One person even recognised the dress and ran up to hug me. I was very taken aback by that! I think I saw that same girl in the masquarade so I was rooting for her.

I am so bad at having my photo taken. I was trying to make an X. What the hell is that?! Well I look pretty kickass so it's ok.
I had a short nap the day before and as usual, I couldn't sleep the night before. This time I booked a taxi nice and early since I was late last time. The house was very dark so it was hard getting to the front door without making any noise. But my taxi arrived just as I got out the door, which was a good omen.
But this time, it was the other way around and Vicky and Katie were late since they sleapt through their alarm. Oh no!
While waiting for the DLR train, I was wandering around the platform looking at people's costumes. I saw this guy and asked for his photo, because I thought he might be one of the transformers. He probably isn't but I think my bf will like it anyway.

I also overheard a lady explaining the expo to a passenger. It probably put her off!
I arrived at Edexcel just before 9 and since the others weren't arriving until later, I got in the que. It took bloody ages and the only thing worse than being in a long que is being in a long que when people all around you are complaining about it. But when the expo opened, a great cheer errupted through the hall. It was a magical moment! It still took me about half an hour to get in though. But once I was, I ran like crazy to the cosplay desk to get a masquarade ticket. But they said to get it at the front desk so I ran ran ran all the way back again and got one!
As per usual, I spent the morning browsing stalls and shopping before the big rush. Before I met Vicky and Katie, I'd already bought 3 books and a keyring!
They arrived at about 11:15 and I was outside waiting. I knew Vicky was cosplaying as the wonderful Morgana so when I saw her, I ran up and gave her a biiiig hug! Katie probably felt left out. Here are their awesome costumes:

Morgana!! So awesome! And best of all were the mini plushies attatched to her belt:

Kawaii!!
And Katie as Kyo from Potemayo which is just adorable:

And here's me glomping Morgana:

So after lunch and photo taking, I bought a few more things and went outside for a wander. This turned out to be a big mistake as the line to get back in was horrendously long and it took 10 minutes! It was a real hassle when I had to go out just to use the bathroom!
I'm not usually the type to go running up the people squeeing, but this time I did. I saw this guy dressed as Snufkin from the Moomins and had the biggest squee ever!! I love the Moomins and am doing a report on the writer, Tove Jansson and here he was in front of me! How great!!

At about 3 I was getting knackered so I got in line early for the masqurade, and had a nice sit down to read my new manga. I got a pretty decent seat considering how big the seating area was, but wasn't in a good position to get photos. But that always happens and there's always masquarade photos drifting around somewhere. As per usual, it was great! Alvin and the Chipmunks danced to their theme song, which I really liked for some reason. And there was a Blood + group and Siegfried and Nightmare from Soul Calibre. They were awesome! When I told Joonas, he said 'how did Nightmare carry that sword around?' How indeed! I liked the Digimon too and Nerfertimon was the winner! That was great.
I wasn't as tierd this time. Maybe because I wasn't out drinking the night before and I was sitting down for the last hour and a half. it's too bad I couldn't go to the Merlin panel, but I didn't know it was going to be on sunday. I hope Vicky can meet Angel Coulby and Katie McGrath someday, so they can fall in love with her and she can get married and they'll introduce me to Colin Morgan and Bradley James who will also fall in love with and marry me.
This years swag:

  • Sunshine Sketch volume 3. If you haven't read this manga then definatly check it out!
  • Noodle shop affari volume 1. Because I always have to buy some yaoi!
  • Kyo Kara Maoh! volume 2. More BL.
  • Mark of the succubus vol 2. In the sale for just £1!! I don't know why it was in the sale though as it's a great manga. It may be about succubi but it's actually a high school drama/comedy.
  • Phantom Dream vol 2. Natsuki Takaya, you rule!
  • Merlin stuff! I am so very happy with this. I got a keyring, 5 badges and a ruler. I put the keyring on the zip of my dress for the rest of the day. It's now on my keys with my Nightwish keryring.
  • Ryuk keyring. I wanted a keyring for my new skull and bones backpack. All my other keyrings are too cute for it.
  • Merlin stickers which they were giving out for free at the SFX stand!! My boyfriend somehow convinced me to give him one.
  • A goth loli bracelet. I thought it was a choker but it's still a pretty bracelet.
  • A present for Joonas but it's a secret for now. I always get him a 'sorry you couldn't come' present, but next year he'll get to come too!

Here's the rest of my photos:

I found it interesting that Naruto manga took up and entire row of shelves. Why do I never get into the super popular manga? I'm so shojo oriented.

I wanted a picture of these balloons for some reason.

I have no idea who these guys are dressed as, I was just bored while waiting for the others. I like them though!

A lady dressed as the Tardis. How awesome!!

Who says Daleks are evil? This one had a charity box!
And finally, a couple of crowd shots:

It's always sad leaving the expo and going back to reality. I wasn't feeling very cheerful yesterday since 2 of my glasses were broken when I got home, the power went out so I had to go top up the key and I had to do a research report for today's class. But as I've been learning from my media fandom module, fan communities exist all over the internet so my brothers and sisters are never far away.
Next year's outfit- Either Tokiko from Buso Renkin or my Hello Kitty doll!!
