MCM expo october 2008
A bit late but it's time for the expo post!! No pictures for this cos once again I FORGOT THE F***ING CABLE!!
I went home this time since I don't like travelling by myself late at night. We went out to eat at Cafe de China for an early birthday meal. Love it there!! And before the expo even started, I got a present. My great uncle Geoff got me a really cool figurine from Japan that looks just like an anime character.
Ok, now expo day. I couldn't sleep from the adrenaline and woke up at 5am. My first time cosplaying! I was Tohru Honda! Mum tied my hair ribbons for me. Katie was Red Link and Vicky was Sanji from One Piece. We have a picture of all of us together but I forgot to get someone to take a picture of me. What an f*** tard!! I hope I'll find one that someone else took.
On the way there I almost froze to death since I only had a thin piece of material to keep me warm. Definatly go for something warmer next time. While waiting for the train I showed Katie the correct way to do the Time Warp dance, which must have looked a little strange.
And then we had arrived! Even being in line is the best feeling ever! My morning was spent shopping. Yes, I'm a shop a holic. So sue me...It's just hard so find such awesome merchandise anywhere else! This was my haul:
- Two Lucky Star figurines. Very cute!!
- Cardcaptor Sakura figurine. Also very cute! (figurines seem to be very in this year)
- Black Mokona plush
- Mokona watch necklace. Hideously expensive but impossible to resist!
- Fancy new Marble Pocky.
- Fruits Basket socks
- Buso Renkin volume 2 dvd
- Dramacon volume 1. Been wanting it for a while and it's really good!
- Ouran high school host club volume 1
- Soul rescue. In the sale so I thought why not. It's actually very good.
- Future lovers. Yaoi manga. Sounds EXACTLY like the John Paul/Craig storyline from Hollyoaks!!
So all in all I spent approximatly £76.50. More than I expected...AND YET I DON'T CARE!! MUAHAHA! Oh yeah, I also spent £1 on a souvinir for Joonas since they don't have decent anime conventions in Finland. My poor baby...
What next? Oh yeah! MEEERLIIIIN!!! I found out the day before that the actors from the tv show Merlin would be there. How could I not have realised sooner? Pay attention Jess!!
So yeah, I got in the que nice and early to get a good seat. All of us in the first 3 rows were yaoi fangirls. The first question asked was 'Did you inted for the series to be a love story between Merlin and Arthur?' My first thought was 'she did not just say that did she?' My second thought was 'hells yeah! They're hot!'
A little kid asked the actor himself 'where did you get your powers from?' So cute!! Another asked if he used his powers when they wern't filming and they said 'well stuff does go missing...'
It was great seeing them so close. Too bad I missed a chance to get their autographs since it clashed with the masquarade. I'm kinda sore about that but at least the masquarade was awesome as always! The catbus won! It was an amazing costume! I also liked Ryu ohki, Soul Calibre the movie starring Dr Eggman and er....that's all I remember right now.
The way home wasn't as chilly but cos I was tierd and hungry I was in a pissy mood. At least we had plenty of new manga to read on the train. And we got to confuse the hell out of the guy sitting next to us. Probably thought we were on our way to a very weird hen night.
Can't believe we have to wait until May for the next one! I'd like to try for a Lucky Star cosplay next time. There's also a convention in Bristol. I didn't go last year cos of nasty deadlines. But deadlines were slightly different this year so hopefully they will be next semester too.
Now I must add Merlin and Arthur to my wall of fangirlism!
Someone tell me if a picture of me in cosplay shows up somewhere. *sniff*
