Okay, after two weeks, and three expensive vet visits, I think they finally figured out what is wrong with baby Oliver. He has a megaesophagus, which means his esophagus is dialated and muscles aren't making the food go down. So thats why he's been throwing up so much. I have to feed him smaller portions three times a day with special food and make sure he eats with his head above his shoulders and stay that way for 10-15 minutes afterwards...or he may asperate and get pneumonia.
They think what is causing this is a disease called Myasthenia gravis which is also making his muscles so weak...the reason why he has trouble walking (and can't most of the time) There are treatments I can give him if it ends up being this (tests are going through) but its something he will have to take his whole life. I guess there are varying degrees of how these treatments react so it will hopefully help him quite a bit, but he will probably never be back to normal completely.
The good news is he won't die, anytime soon at least...the bad news is, he just became an extremely high maintence and expensive dog.
On a better note, this week is parent teacher conferences and fall break. I can't believe it is fall already. Since I'm a specials teacher, I don't have to do conferences. So basically I have two days off completely this week (thurs and Fri) and kids only for a day and a half. The other day and a half, I get to work in my classroom. On Thursday I'm going up to Michigan to see Matt! I haven't been up there since he moved and it will be nice to have a long weekend with him.
