[ History ] :
"Because I couldn't stop killing things, she tied my hands to the piano."

Eyes Rutherford. A quarter English, and missing a rib bone. A Blade Child.

Born in the "Blade Children Project," Eyes received the intellectual, physical, and charismatic genius from the father of the mass-produced Blade Children: Mizushiro Yaiba. As a young child, these characteristics soon became evident - he was clearly much more talented than the other children his age. But at the same time, perhaps because of that very talent, perhaps because of the gears of the world surrounding his birth moving around him, or perhaps because of something yet to manifest in his blood, Eyes could not help but notice death. It started with ants - a line of them, picking up each one, one by one, until they had all been destroyed. Then there were cicadas, butterflies, crickets... When he was five, he strangled the family husky with metal wire. His mother, realising the seriousness of the situation, forced Eye's hands to the keys of the piano, where they wouldn't be able to kill.

At the same time, not long after the implementation of the Blade Children project and as the skills of the young children became apparent, their destiny, irrevocable fate, was revealed. For Yaiba, the 'Devil' himself had awakened at the age of twenty, with the realisation of his purpose in the world - to eradicate humans. And in all eighty of his children, the same instinct had been passed down. It wouldn't awaken until they were around twenty or so - when they had learned the ways of humans and had become trusted, respectable leaders among them. But inevitably, the cursed blood would awaken inside them and like the homo sapiens sapiens who had destroyed the neanderthals that had come before him, the Blade Children would eradicate humans and become the new rulers of the world.

And so they had to be destroyed. Even though they were but five years old at the time, they soon understood their position, their destiny. Blade Children were killed, were hunted. By the time it ended, twenty two Blade Children had died, and the fate of the Blade Children had been sealed. The organization that Yaiba had headed had split into three factions: Savers, Watchers, and Hunters, and although the new head of the organization, Narumi Kiyotaka, kept the Hunters in check, there were still those who would destroy the now six year old children.

Their lives were now sought after, and Eyes was no exception. Living in the shadow of being killed, Eyes practiced piano until his killing urges lessened, living the life of a Blade Child. There were friends, other Blade Children, as well. One of them in particular, his longtime friend, was Kanone Hilbert.

Although to Eyes, the youngest of the Blade Children who all shared the same father, the others were all, in some way older brothers and sisters, it was only to Kanone that he could think of as a "big brother." Kanone was the one who taught him not only how to fight, but many other things as well. Kanone then, could be known as something like a "best friend" to Eyes. While Kanone actively killed 'Hunters', the ones who wished to destroy the Blade Children, Eyes became one of his supports.

When Eyes was seven years old, his mother died suddenly. He did not cry, saying that he would rather be a bloodless, tearless demon - as long as Kanone was by him, and could cry his tears for him.

But in all this scheme of death, Narumi Kiyotaka presented a ray of hope for the cursed children: his little brother, Narumi Ayumu. While Narumi-otouto became the hope for a changed fate that the Blade Children grasped onto, for Eyes, this image became destroyed, around when he was 13 or so. He learned of Mizushiro Hizumi, the little brother of the 'Devil', even as Ayumu was the little brother of 'God'. Hizumi, the one who would crush their hope, would crush their belief that they could be saved...'Despair'. Nonetheless, Eyes continued to believe that perhaps, their fate could be changed.

At the age of 14, Eyes became a celebrated pianist. While living the life of a celebrity, he lived the life of a Blade Child. But it wasn't until he was 17 that the wheels of the carefully balanced composition began to truly turn once again.

Upon arrival in Japan, Eyes demanded that someone bring him the little brother - Narumi Ayumu. At first disappointed at the weakness in the little brother, their first encounter had the potential to be a little explosive...but the situation was eventually diffused by Ayumu's wits and his partner's help. Yet after testing Ayumu, he eventually accepted Ayumu as Kiyotaka's little brother.

Yet while Ayumu proved again and again that maybe he could be their hope, Eyes had another matter on his mind. Having failed to be persuaded by Eyes, his childhood friend, Kanone, called to confirm to Eyes that he would be arriving in Japan as a Hunter. Eyes, receiving Kanone's call, went to meet him at the airport to tell him that no matter what, he would stop Kanone from destroying them, the "pathetic Blade Children." Kanone, saying Eyes' was too soft, stabbed him, one of the Blade Children, right hten and there.

Eyes however, miracuously did not die, instead falling into a state of unconsciousness as his body fought for survival. When he awoke, Kanone had already begun his festival. Eyes bargained with Narumi Madoka to take him to the school, deducing from a call to Kanone the true reason for his switch and what this attempt at bloodshed held in Kiyotaka's grand plan. Called into the school as a participant in Ayumu's plot, he played a critical role in - capture without death of Kanone and the survival of the Blade Children.

While the heavily injured Blade Children and Narumi family members recuperated, it became clear that it was time to reveal the entire truth of the matter to Ayumu. Eyes told Ayumu about the "Creator"s and "God" and the "Devil", and Ayumu's role in the composition - God's little brother. He told him about the BlaChil and the curse that they bore within them. He told Ayumu about the "Despair" that had crushed Kanone and that he couldn't help but believe would be overcome by Ayumu's "Hope". He told him this, and so began the endgame.

Mizushiro Hizumi - the Devil's little brother - appeared, and contrary to everyone's expectations became friends with Ayumu, even living in his apartment, hanging out with Ayumu incessently at school. While Eyes found this strange, there was little he could do except to watch. But the fun school life that Ayumu and Hizumi had could only end...

When Hizumi killed Kanone. To Eyes, this was a crushing blow - Kanone who Ayumu had fought so hard to save and who Eyes held dearer than anyone, was dead. Yet at the same time, Kanone's death was one that would give "hope" to Ayumu.

Shortly thereafter, Eyes discovered through Kirie the truth of the "little brothers" - in reality, clones of the "Devil" and "God". When relaying this information to Ayumu, Ayumu received a call from Hizumi. Leaving Eyes contained in his apartment, Ayumu left to meet Hizumi. By the time Eyes, Hiyono, and Kirie could reach the meeting place, Eyes believed that it was already too late, that the future he wished for was one different from that Ayumu was moving towards. At the same time, he discovered the reason for Ayumu's existence - that perhaps Ayumu, more so than the BlaChil, was the one who had lost the most.

The story, like any other story...ends.

When Eyes reaches the location, Ayumu has prevailed and Hizumi has failed again to end his life. After, he tells Eyes and the others that he will defeat his brother in a way that can provide hope, even if he himself were to die soon.

The story then concludes as Ayumu had promised - with his victory and the BlaChil's belief in hope.

It's been some months now since this story finished. For Eyes, after recuperating from his brush with death, he has returned to the piano while acting as the liason between Kirie, Ayumu, and the Blade Children. Although Kanone has died, and although the cursed blood still runs in his veins, Eyes, perhaps, still has the power of belief.

[ Personality ] :

On the outside, Eyes exudes a cool-type personality, almost cold-hearted. He's a celebrtity. He comes off as calmly self-confident, and undoubtedly talented. To most people, his face appears to have one (1) expression: neutral. Intelligent like all the BlaChil, Eyes is capable of assessing and calculating situations, creating a plan of action in moments and pieceing together fragments of information into a whole.

He has never cried - Kanone says that even he, who is Eyes' childhood friend, has never seen him cry, to which Eyes replies that for the upcoming battles, he'd rather be a bloodless, tearless demon, and in many ways, at least on the outside, that is exactly what he has acheived.

When it comes to fighting, there's nothing to say that he can't do it - he can shoot a gun and toss a knife and probably blow people up at close range if it came to it. But he prefers to keep physically out of it, being more of a "leader" type, letting the other Blade Children do what they are more capable than him at doing.

There is the part of him that is ruthless, stopping at little to prove his own purposes. Ayumu's welfare was in no way his consideration when Eyes wanted to see if their hope existed at all. When it came to the Hunters, he'd kill them without hesitation, hating them with every fibre of his being.

Yet on the other hand, Eyes is soft. His friends are more important than he gives them credit for, and thus could be seen as his weakness. Because he doesn't want to give up on his friends, he keeps on believing that their fate could be changed, even after meeting Hizumi. Eyes seems to carry around a bag of dried sardines - "for days like these", he remarks, while feeding a cat, at least partially because Kanone loves cats. It is his feelings towards Kanone that gets him stabbed, and his trust in Ayumu that ends up with him cuffed to the Narumi's dining table. But it is this love for his friends and the people around him that gives him the strength to accept his fate as a Blade Child.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Strengths:
Piano. Eyes is an incredibly talented piano player - not necessarily on par with "God", but one with undeniable skill. He's a classical piano player - one of the oft played pieces when he is alone is "Bénédiction de Dieu dans la Solitude" by Chopin.

Analysis. Eyes is smart. He can take a situation and put it together, find the different sides of it, and exploit the variables to his advantage.

Weaknesses:
Compared to the other Blade Children, Eyes appears to be physically weaker than them - but that still makes him stronger than a regular human. His missing rib gives him constant pain, however, and two years give or take is all the time he has left.

Friends - Kanone is probably the only person who will manage to stab Eyes ever.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
Uh. He's going to go batshit insane in about 2 years time and start killing humans like woah.

Yeah, idk I think I covered everything...?

[ Sample ] :

Eyes blinked. Closed his eyes. Opened them.

He was underwater. His clothes felt damp. It was as if all energy had been drained from his limbs. Above him, a sea danced where the sky should be.

Questions raced through his mind - more questions than he had answers for, because it felt as if he'd been dragged through the entire sea above him that he could see and then dropped into a massive air bubble. There was, as far as he could determine, no logical reason why this might have happened. There were few enemies now and even if they were involved, he would be dead or - no, the enemy would be dead. To have awoken in such a place with no prior knowledge...

Eyes struggled into an upright position, wincing as his missing rib twinged. If he stayed like this, he'd catch a cold. There was something that appeared to be a city in the distance, or at least a place where sentinent beings dwelled... "Atlantis?" But no, Atlantis was a myth, or perhaps one of many sunken cities. Yet glass would have to be layers thick to support the water pressure from above - unless something mythical was suppor--

A...blue thing. Eyes sighed. Something mythical indeed.

[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] :
...Um. I. Well. Hi.

ACTUALLY I DO HAVE A QUESTION. Rereading the rules/FAQ page, in regards to picking back up dropped characters...Eyes would've been in some sort of limbo state as opposed to having gone back home? [in which case his canon point should then be the same as before haha] I...'m not quite clear what the case ought to be ;u;
