heeeeeeeerrrreeee’s my random story of the night. And I’m very proud of it. So read it.
Bit of history. When I first heard He Reigns, I knew it sounded familiar. Of course, being me, I convinced myself “well…it’s just because it’s so “duh”…it’s a good song. A genius song in it’s simplicity…so it’s one of those songs you just figure was already written.”
Fast forward 3 years…ish.
I’m sitting on iTunes tonight, looking around at some 90’s music. I find some Live stuff (the band Live, that is). I used to like some of their songs…their hits at least, so I listened to Lightning Crashes, making sure it was what I thought it was.
…so it starts playing, in the 30 second preview (meaning I’m coming in at a random point in the song) and I basically hear He Reigns…and then the guys vocals come in.
Yeeeaaaa so He Reigns sounds indentical to Live’s Lightning Crashes and it’s really funny, because it’s not even “yea…I can kinda hear it” it’s more along the lines of “ummm…and there hasn’t been a lawsuit yet, why?”
The only difference is the lyrics and the way the chorus is done. The opening, the verses, the ending…it is the same. The same the same the same. I mean, it’s like…duh…no wonder your song is so good. You get like the BEST Live song EVER…yea…it’s gonna be good.
Thus ends the 3 year mystery (…I may or may not have forgotten about this completely during the course of those three years…but you know…it was totally there in spirit…ish?)
Anyways…other iTunes discoveries tonight:
Brandston- lead singer sounds a lot like Anthony Kiedis (RHCP)…that’s very good.
Sandi Thom- crazy awesome song. Nothing else to say.
The Fray- yes…I caved in…still don’t like that “over my head” song though.
Snow Patrol- liked that Chasing Cars song for a while…got a few others
Techno Disney- haha what now :-p
Hellogoodbye- Only the good stuff though. None of the lame stuff.
*sighs* My life is so simple. I could laugh. Then again. It is 4:30 in the morning. Of course things are simple, and of course I will laugh, that’s why God created 4:30am…but only if you stay awake until then…if you wake up then- 4:30 looks very different.
I love lame pop-punk-screamo stuff. It just…it brings back so many memories of jr. high summers. And while they sucked, they certainly sucked- they were amazing. Some of the best times I’ve ever had.
NIAP shows. And the drives. (I’m behind the crazy mic…you can see my leg, Aja was next to me…and I believe Anthony is behind her…yeeeaa that was a bad night lol. I remember that one pretty distinctly)
Aja and I switched off taping/taking pics during their show. This would be me taping (blob on far right)
BDJ days…what can I say lol. Lunch was always fun in 8th grade…which would be when this was taken. Though 9th grade lunch was ALWAYS horrid to the extreme.
Same day as the one above. Last day of 8th grade. *sighs* BDJ was pretty grand, now that I look back at it. Despised it then, but what didn’t I despise? *rolls eyes*
Zack and I walked all the way to Marsh, then down to Walgreens to get stuff to make a “tennis ball bomb”…we found it online…and were bored. Yay for NOT having neighbors then, and doing it all in their back yard (yes…the ones who have the evil little grandkids who will actually start riding their idiotic motorbikes in about 4 hours…maybe 3) It didn’t work out too well…but it kept us entertained for a few hours. We had motivation too. Search it, walk to get all the stuff, make it, lol looking back- I’m impressed.
Stacy and I found the weirdest things to do when we were bored. I remember duct-taping my fingers for some reason, then that got us putting it on our shirts, and a stripe down our pants…and that turned into “lets look super weird”. I never wore make up. Still don’t. Minus the times Tish and Stacy would make me look like a hooker…and this appears to be one of those times, going off the eyes and lips lol. You know you wish you were cool enough to wear hair ties on your ear.
The night before, this lady hit Kaycee while she was walking across the street from my house. She was explaining her side of the story, and how she didn’t see Kaycee.
I was listening to her in their kitchen, mocking her, going on about how she was lying. Only because she was lol. 25 miles an hour…riiiiiight. That’s why she flew 12 feet. *rolls eyes*
The drives. The walks. All the things that we weren’t trying to do, but ended up doing…that was the greatest. We’d walk to McClure’s…but the walk was the best part. We’d drive to parks or shows…but the drive was better than the place we were going. I guess that’s how it is though. You think you’re going one place…but then you kind of realize that you never remember where you were going, or why…but you remember how you got there. *chokes* how cliche.
I’ve written a lot here, and erased 90% of it. It’s 7:49am now. That’s kinda crazy. I could ramble. I have rambled. And probably will again…I’ll just be nice about it and make it a private entry :-p There’s so much to say, but I can’t think of words, which is a pretty annoying feeling.
So yea. I guess this pretty much wraps it up, and hits everything dead on the head.
If only I knew what I know
I’d make it a point to say so
To everyone that got me here
And everyone that made it
Clear I was dead wrong all along
You said it for my sake
That I would not lose my way
When I was astray
I’m doing the best that I could.
Trying my best to be understood
Maybe I’m changing slowly
I get out, turn around
Knew I was dead wrong all along
You said it for my sake
that I would not lose my way
When I was dead wrong all along
Mine is not a new story
Mine is not a new story
Mine is nothing new
But it is for me
So I was dead wrong all along
You said it for my sake
That you thought I’d lost my way
When I was dead wrong all along
You said it for my sake
That I would not lose my way
Did I really lose my way
Or are you afraid
