I don't even know if 6 people read my LJ...

The first six people to respond to this post will get something made by me. It will be about or tailored to those six who respond first.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year.
- You have no clue what it's going to be. ( Read more... )

I've ever written fan fiction before... Mostly because I never loved something enough to go "Ok! I want to do something with those characters?" Mostly because I've always felt that characters were the domain of the writer -- To try to use them would just be.. Cheating? Since it carries the preconcieved notions and the weight of the main text.

There's narcissism in fan fiction, indeed.

HOWEVER (and I hate to be the one to say that), fan fiction writers DO sometimes--although rarely--become legit. Comic book writers have done so. I mean, if you write a script for a TV show, you're sort of writing fan fiction.

But I tend to think of fan fiction as being almost wholly negative, because of the need to post it on the internet, the bastardized pairings that generally have nothing to do with the way the characters are written, and yeah, the ego thing.
