Sleep escapes me..

One of the things you deal with after making a trip abroad, is dealing with the aftermath of that trip... For me, it's the amount of work that I have to deal with when you gt back, and also trying to readjust your sleeping schedule. Last night, I got about three hours worth of sleep. I tossed and turned in bed for about 4 hours.

The dreams I had were the ones that reminded me of fever dreams -- clouded with moments of extreme clarity and then blurried "What the fuck" moments.

One of the dreams, I ended up in a darkened auditorium, watching one of those early 1970 Disney educational films, where there are no Disney characters. Reminded me of those "Jimmeny Cricket - I'm No Fool" films. Anyway, it was all about Color and Light. Specifically how color is defined by light. I remember towards the end of the film having a discussion with a girl in the auditorium about how the opposite of light for color is the lack of light. Light defines color. Without light, there would be no color. It would all be murky darkness. Because of light we have color.

For whatever reason, when I woke up I was like "Woah", but reading that now, it's more like ... ok, what the fuck does that mean? Now thinking about it, I seem to recall that color is defined by our brains on how light is reflected off of objects..

Then there's the connection between colors and how we define those things .. What makes red specifically red? My Dad was Red Green Colorblind. Meaning, he had difficulty discerning the two. It frusterated him when he tried to play Baulder's Gate, because the character selection was either "RED" or "GREEN" and he couldn't tell the colors a part. The Airforce originally would not let him become an electrical engineer because he couldn't discern the color of wires.

I just think it's funny how we've all are able to universally define a set color and say "Red is Red. Blue is Blue." and we all just kind of accept it. But I guess you could translate that to more abstract things like feelings or emotions -- how are we able to universally relate what we are feeling from a personal perspective for someone else to comprehend?

I guess that's just the magic of language.

Anyway, I'm up right now because I can't really get any sleep at this point. I will try again in another few..
