I sometimes think my soul is stuck in the 1930s

I want a normal sleep schedule. Is that too much to ask, body? None of this sleeping for 17 hours and staying up for 24, only to sleep for four hours and then up all night, then switching to naps of three hours or so. I thought we were supposed to get out of this nocturnal phase when we left the teenage years :| :O :|

I would also like my computer to stop giving me the blue screen of death every three days freaking day! What the hell, Vista. You are brand-new, what the fuck is wrong with you. I don't have the money to fix you >:O

Posting this here, in case some of you missed it, but it originally was at discworld, sorry if you get it twice!

Dunno if I like David Jason as Rincewind though....will wait until I see more of him than this one scene. Also, caught a mention of Pterry's recent push for Alzheimer's funding on BBC America. Pure fluke, I turned to the show just as the segment started and started freaking out. I admire that he's so outspoken about being frustrated by this. Which reminds me, I need to donate to the fund that the people on discworld are doing. Even if it's only going to be like twenty bucks ;_;

And most OP people have seen this too, but I can't help myself.

Totally looks like a yakuza/pirate movie, which makes me lol so hard. Zoro should get a tattoo for his back. It should be of a gigantic onigiri. I don't care if this is 'canon' or whatever, or if the SH are really going to the World Government headquarters (I don't think they are, though. Something that epic should happen in the manga, dammit XD) I'm just really thrilled about the hats *.* Shallow fangirl? Who, me?

And welcome to another episode of "Manga That I'm Addicted To And I Want Others To Like Them Too!" With the added bonus of actually producing what I'm pimping XD

Team Medical Dragon
This is an amazing series. Yes, it's a medical manga, and the medical terms can be a little confusing. And it is definitely for mature audiences, as there's a fair amount of blood and nudity, as well as one sex scene (so far, although I'm suspecting there will be more after volume 5) and a lot of exposed organs. So if black-and-white images of people being operated on isn't your thing, you might want to give this a miss. But seriously, you will be missing out, because TMD is awesome.

The story is engrossing. Assistant Professor Katou Akira wants to change the Japanese medical world, making it more about the patients than about the professors who run the hospitals. To do so, however, she's got to become a professor, and to do that, Katou's got to pull off some heavy-duty amazing thesis work. So she cajoles Asada Ryutaro, a genius surgeon and all-around trouble-maker, into agreeing to perform a Batista operation for her thesis. The Batista operation (as far as my non-medical brain gets it) involves cutting diseased parts of the heart out, has a high risk of death during and after the procedure, and it's very hard to actually pinpoint the diseased tissue (hence the thesis. Part of it is to find a way to accurately locate the diseased tissue so they're not removing huge chunks of the heart, weakening the muscle).

Of course, Asada's a loose cannon, and has his own conditions to remaining at the hospital. And of course the team he forms to perform the surgery is eclectic and unconventional, and of course this stirs up shit with the actual professor of the hospital. The cast is all different (and omg I think I love Ijyuuin Noboru a little. He's the high-strung intern who's disillusioned by the corrupt hospital system but just accepts it as status quo, and hates being around Asada, because Asada constantly challenges him to think for the patient and not about the hospital regulations. The scene on the roof where Asada asks if Ijyuuin if he wants to join the Batista team is omg just love) and easily recognizable, although the head professor looks like a creepy caricature of some ghoul.

There's so much shading (which makes coloring the series frustrating for me ;_;) but the art looks stunning. The expressions on all of the people are gorgeous, and ahaha Asada gets this "blazing eyes" effect that totally makes him look possessed XD It's brilliant.

Preview-tastic!

Told ya. Possessed~~ XD

I'm putting all of the scan chapters that I have up (because I desperately want moar. MOAAAAAAR) because it's addicting. You want to just keep going. I definitely stayed up several hours later than I should just to keep reading this. Unfortunately, I think the project's stalled, so there may not be any more after this ;_; Hopefully though, since the drama seems to be pretty popular (and hoo boy, I have no idea on how to go about finding j-drama, but for TMD, I think I will make that further jump into fandom) and is on amazon (but wtffff no manga? ;_;) that the manga will get licensed/released here soon (if it's not already. Man, this is a lot of parenthetical phrases) *crosses fingers*

Yankee-kun to Megane-chan
I can't remember for the life of me where I found this series or who recommended it. But omg, it's adorable in the strangest way. And I can't find any scans of it ;______;

I only have the first four chapters, but it's worth the look, I think. The art's fairly good and the expressions are adorable. The story focuses on Shinagawa Daichi, the yankee-kun, and Adachi Hana, the megane-chan. He's the local tough guy, who everyone's a little scared of. She's the class rep with a strange penchant for infiltrating the boys' bathroom looking for him. Together they fight crime! Adachi as class rep tries to keep Shinagawa in line by basically asking him to teach her various things. In the first
chapter she tries to convince him to go on this social studies field trip. I won't really go into why she tries so hard, though, because it's kind of spoilery and I don't know, I thought it was a cute reason when I found out about it. So I'll keep my mouth shut unless someone wants to chat about it in the comments or something.

I don't want to say a whole lot about the plot because there's not a lot to spoil! I don't want to ruin the little surprises about the two characters. But I don't know, there's some quirky, funny charm to this manga that makes me want to hunt down people on the internets and make them read it XD It feels weird pimping something off of four chapters, but it's cuuuuuute.

Preview-tastic!
