Harold Pinter died? D: I know not many people on my flist may have heard of his plays, but he was an amazing guy. Read The Birthday Party for my Modern English Lit class while in Ireland. Everyone should read a little Pinter.
I've missed a lot, but life's been kind of eating me recently. Family always goes crazy over the holidays and this time was no exception. My cousin and I made double chocolate chip and sugar cookies for the family gift exchange, and midway through baking the first batch we decided to give them...shapes. Yeah, chocolate chip cookies weren't meant to be shaped like a Christmas tree or a snowman but we still tried!
The sugar went a little better, using cookie cutters from when my brothers and I were kids. We even iced them and put sprinkles on them. So we had green trees and white snowmen and...an Easter egg, a Turkey with red and green feathers, a Jack-o-lantern that I managed to get covered in red sparkles and looked like a Joker-fied pumpkin. We also had Mr. Christmas, who looked like Ronald McDonald, and who eventually lost a leg and his head. We used pink icing to put him back together and miraculously he stayed. My other cousin was the one to get one of the sugar tins, and she reported that the cookies are good. Just...goofy. XD We're planning on doing it again next year.
No real surprises with the gifts, but I got a spring-form pan :D I can fail miserably at baking bake cheesecakes now! And other things but still. Cheesecakes! The youngest brother got Left 4 Dead and has been playing it non-stop. He keeps trying to get me to play, but argggggggh I absolutely cannot deal with zombies. They're my ultimate horror-creature creep-out. Also, I'm absolute shit when it comes to shooting, and he knows it, so he must be really desperate for someone to play with if he's asking me to do so. Or he's planning on leaving me to the Infected horde. N-not the zombies ;____;
Also, shared the joys that is PW3 (3-5 at that) with four of my cousins, ages ranging from ten to...four?
Was playing through Edgeworth vs Franziska, and trying to explain who I was and what was going on went something like this:
Cousin 1: Who are you playing as?
Me: The guy in the pink suit.
Cousin 2: Why does that girl have a whip?
Me: ...Good question Um. It's what she's always had. She uses to it whip people.
Cousin 2: Why does she do that?
Me: ...Because she's angry? She can get pretty angry, especially when we're winning.
Cousin 1: Are we winning now?
Me: *has hit a part where I can't remember what I'm supposed to present* ...Kind of?
Cousin 1: We're trying to keep that dark haired girl safe?
Me: Right. Because they think she did the crime, but we know she didn't.
Cousin 2: Did the other girl do it?
Me: Um. No.
Cousin 1: But she's whipping people!
Cousin 2: *after second penalty* Let us know when you get passed this. We want to know what happens next :D
Yeah, and trying to explain Psyche-locks? Har har.
Although it was amusing to have all four of them sitting on the arms of my chair, trying to watch the screen XD And I managed to convince the two boys to say "HOLD IT" at the microphone. Didn't take, but whatever, they were totally confused anyway XD
I keep doing this all completely by accident and feel really really guilty, because these games aren't meant for kids their ages. They kept flashing the murder scene and I'm like Cover up the screen, page through this fast, hope their mom and dad don't wonder what we're playing... I shouldn't really worry too much. Lord knows I had watched my dad play games that were way more violent than PW when I was a kid. Doom or Hexen, anyone? And it's like the DS is this magical tool that draws kids in as soon as they see it. Doesn't matter what I'm playing, but this is the second time some of my youngest cousins have seen me playing a PW game. The first time I had to explain spirit mediums and spirit channeling to my five-year-old cousin Renee, while playing 2-2. And when I got the Crying!Pearl sprite randomly during one of Phoenix's conversations, Renee yelled at me for making her cry. Is this on par with being beaten up by Pearl in the games? I think so.
Icon post before New Year's, now that my computer's stopped being so retarded.
Edit:
abarero, you're amazing *_*
