On the last episode of "A Walk Down Memory Lane"...
Zak: No, no. Cool means hot.
Crysta: What?
Zak: Yeah. Y'know, bodacious, bad, tubular.
Batty: Awesome use of the language, dude.
Rewatched
Fern Gully today. I forgot how goofy the music is, but the one-liners and interchanges in this keep cracking me up. Especially Batty. Say what you will about Robin Williams, but I think I will always harbor an affection for the guy. He just seems like someone who would be fun to be around.
Batty: Nobody cares about me.
Zak: I do, Bat Man!
Batty: You sure?
Zak: I'm positive.
Batty: Only fools are positive.
Zak: Are you sure?
Batty: I'm positive....I fell for it! I should've known!
Although villains like Hexxus freak the shit out of me. That scene where they slice up the tree, and it oozes up the pipe? Yeah, there's probably a reason why I hate sentient ooze. Except for the original Blob movie - that one's just hysterical. But maaaaan Tim Curry *_____* I am already weak against you and your sexy sexy voice. Do not give me another sultry song to love.
There's no way a song like Toxic Love would be released now, though.
And since I was already on YouTube, I went looking for the other movies we had taped off the TV when my brothers and I were kids. You know the ones, those old black video cassette tapes with the white sticky label for the side, you'd tape all the holiday specials, and you can never find them now that you're older? Because I certainly have no idea what happened to ours.
Adventure: You fiction? Or non-fiction?
Richard: I-I'm Richard, Richard Tyler.
Adventure: What kind o' a book would that be?

Oh god, The Pagemaster. Brings out my inner library-dork without fail. XD Also, pirates and dragons in one movie? So there.
Now you know I get addicted to voice actors fairly easily, but major major love for the voice acting in this. Patrick Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, Frank Welker, Jim Cummings, Phil Hartman (!), Leonard Nimoy? Yes, please.
Fantasy: I'm a book, honey. I can read.
Adventure: A boat!
Richard: Is it...safe?
Adventure: I wrote the book on sailin'. In fact, I am the book on sailin'.
Horror: Horror always has sad endings.
D'awwwww Horror, I forgot how freakishly adorable you are XD Also love the borderline little brother/big sister vibe Horror and Fantasy have. It's so fitting for their genres to band together in some strange, anthropomorphic kind of way XD And Horror/Adventure? BWAHAHAHA YES. I forgot about the ending. Now I don't feel as bad for sorta shipping them midway through. Thank you, fandom, for corrupting me into pseudo-shipping book genres. Wtf XD
Adventure: Hold on there, missus! The lad's wit' me!
Fantasy: You know that short story?
Richard: Yeah, he's Adventure.
Fantasy: Honey, that's what they all say.
Adventure: I heard that! I'll have you know, I'm a classic!
Fantasy: Uh-huh. A classic misprint.
And oh god, the "checking me out" demands. Ahahahaha hello gutter, my old friend. I've come to play in you again.
Captain Ahab: I grin at thee, thou grinning whale!
Fantasy: Ah! He's possessed!
Horror: He's insane!
Adventure: He's my kind o' guy.
Richard: We'll never get to the exit now.
Fantasy: Honey, never say "never" around Fantasy. Because sometimes you've got to fight to make a wish come true. So come on, don't quit on me now.
D'awwwww I love this sentiment. Makes me think the script writers read fantasy stories. Or at least fairy tales, since the stereotypical fantasy story is the one portrayed. Not that I'm complaining at all - dragons, man, dragons. But it is nice to see that instead of going the Frankenstein/vampire/werewolf route, they skewed to Jekyll and Hyde (and the ghost story section made me chuckle). Adventure's section is fairly traditional fare, but I do like the nod to Gulliver's Travels. All in all, an adorable movie.
Bouncers: Move it, move it! Don't touch the star!
Try it, you won't get very far!
We'll bounce you once, bounce you twice,
if you get outta line we're not very nice.
We'll bounce, bounce you all over the place
Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, if we don't like your face!

Duke: You don't want that he makes you lots of money. I don't want that he makes me miserable.
I forgot how absolutely hysterical Rock-a-Doodle is, especially the Duke of Owls. I can't remember who my favorite was back in the day - I suspect Patou and/or Peepers, and I know Edmund bothered me like crazy - but man oh man, the Owls are probably the best thing about this movie. Also it's funny how the songs stuck with me. Not that they're that involved or detailed, but seriously. Memory is a strange strange thing.
Peepers: Edmund! Let's have some help up here! This is a Tzchkorsky X-62 and these things are craaaaazy
Loved that line as a kid. No idea why, but it always stuck out in my mind. Probably because of the whole "craaaaazy" part XD
I will not request a PW/Rock-A-Doodle crossover, with Klavier as Chanticleer, Gant as the Duke, Apollo as Edmund, Phoenix as Patou and Ema as Peepers. Redd White as Hunch.
Daryan as Goldie and I don't even like Klavier/Daryan.
Or god. Machi. The hell, I haven't even played Apollo Justice all the way through yet, omgggggg I am thinking about this way too much.
Will not. Will. Not.
But fuck is it amusing me XD
And then there's this guy:
