And now for something completely different the update I wrote while I was at work.
I don't know what it is about life at the moment but it feels like I'm always rushing around trying to get a million and one things done at once and not getting any of them finished. Okay, so that's not unusual in and of itself, but what does feel a bit weird is that most of the things I want to be doing, the things that keep building up on my "to do" list are somehow fandom or writing related. There's music and pictures that I want to sort out so that I can properly appreciate them (kind of hard to be entertained by cute blog photos if you can't find where you saved them), there's fics I want to read, blogs I want to trawl through, anime I want to watch and a huge pile of books from Christmas/my Birthday that I'd love to read. I've got a big stack of stuff sitting on my scanner just waiting for me to scan and upload them and every time I look at them I get excited because most of it hasn't been shared yet (at least, not anywhere I've seen or if it has the scans have been miniscule which kind of defeats the object of bothering to scan them in the first place) and I really, really want to share them... but I haven't been able to get around to it yet. And that's not including the two weeks worth of Japanese homework that is sitting on my desk waiting to be done, all the stuff relating to work and the recruitment agency that needs sorting, the people that I wish I could collar on Yahoo (yes I'm looking at you Ris and Eli!) and, oh yes, I really need to go clothes shopping because... well, just because!
And then there are the muses.
I love them, I do, and I know its better to feel creative than not... but quite frankly their timing sucks. I've got my outline for chapter 22 of Nile Blue sketched out, I finally worked out the other day where the chapter needs to go and what the point of it is and how I'm going to do it all, so yay, problem solved, lets get on with it! But then I've got Saito and Aoyagi nagging at me to get back to chapter twelve of Narnia and sort them out because I left Aoyagi mid-thought and they're standing in an icy corridor in the middle of the night when there's no one else around and Saito's trying to resist pinning Aoyagi to the nearest flat surface. And have I mentioned Tremanthia recently? Le Tolrothy's about to get his first lesson in how to fight properly rather than fence (because the Derrarters don't know the rules for fencing) and I really want to write it because it involves the Countess kicking his arse around the courtyard and making him feel like an idiot. And now there's Seon and Caener being all cute and confused and having entertaining flashbacks and... gah I want to write about them too! There's going to be lots of making out in just a few more scenes if I can only get through the ones inbetween!
It's bad enough having one story in your head struggling to make itself heard, but four? I can practically see Regina sitting in my boss's chair with her feet up on his desk, smirking at me for all she's worth (luckily he's in a meeting atm otherwise that mental image would be even more disturbing). Yatr's leaning against the window pushing Aftershock at me because he's in it and Kime's perched on my desk, kicking my bin and begging for Nile Blue because she wants cute and sleepy Nagayan (who wouldn't?) and Ion is just standing there, leaning on the pile of bills I have to enter onto the database, being completely unhelpful and suggesting that I write all four at once! Next he'll tell Regina to go find me a couple of extra hands or something and then things'll really get messy >_<
And you can always tell when I feel stressed or rushed because I write in very long run-on sentences and don't use enough full stops while overusing the word "and" but then that's how I think at times like this so its not surprising really.
*sighs* I also start noticing odd things too, like the way one of my ears sticks out a fraction more than the other but you can only really tell when I'm wearing these earrings and I've got my hair tied back.
And cold callers need to die because the phone next to me keeps going off, ringing once and then when I pick it up I just get the dial tone. Bastards.
I need sleep...
