I tried to fight the sap. Alas, it beat me

Feb 14, 2007 21:05

Here I was, happily telling myself that I really couldn't care less whether it was blooming Valentine's Day or not. That the only way I might potentially notice it's existence was by using it as an opportunity to remind all of my wonderful friends how much I adore them (cause I do, in case any of you were wondering).

But then something happened, I thought I'd write something short and sweet just for that sense of satisfaction of having completed something because when you're working on three epics at once none of which are going to wrap themselves up soon, you miss that sense of completion. So I told myself I'd just scribble some drabbles, quick little fandom-related things featuring nothing more than a bit of fluff.

It's all Daiki's fault! He refuses to conform to 100 words!!!

And it all started so well...

Drabble 1: The War of Tremanthia/Christian le Tolrothy + his unnamed wife

There was a day, one day a year when you were meant to spend time with your beloved. When you were selfless and giving and expressed all those emotions that you always felt but never felt able to say aloud. For most couples it was a day for gifts of flowers, sweet cakes or jewellery. For others they went to the theatre or an expensive restaurant.

Christian le Tolrothy felt his heart crumble anyway as his wife’s face lit up with a smile; only she would get so excited about a newly imported crossbow and a night of archery practice.

End

Drabble 2: My muses (at least I know Squirtle and dazhrak will appreciate this one - I hope ^^;)

‘Romance is dead,’ declared Regina from her end of the kitchen table.

Ion slurped his coffee.

‘My dear, if you keep pouting like that someone’ll think you’re trying to hide your disappointment that you had no post,’ Yatr pointed out as he ate his cereal.

Regina frowned, ‘Why are you so insufferably smug this morning? And why are you wearing his dressing gown?’ she added, including Ion in her glare.

Ion slurped again.

With a burst of heart-shaped confetti, Kime launched herself into the room.

Regina blinked through the pink storm. ‘If romance isn’t dead yet, it soon will be.’

End

Drabble 3: Tenimyu/KazuShiro (written with kooriyoukai in mind ♥)

Roses are red

Kazuki flushed. He didn’t get embarrassed easily but…

Violets are blue

The cold February wind made him adjust his scarf but still he didn’t move from the spot where he’d come to a complete stop in the middle of the crowded street.

Chocolate is sweet

Today’s date hadn’t registered at first, he hadn’t thought he had a reason to remember it, and it had only been by chance that he’d felt his phone vibrate.

And so are you.

It was certainly an interesting proposition. For some reason, Kazuki had never realised "Tezuka" had such a good imagination.

End

See, drabbles. 100 words each, etc, etc. Try telling that to Daiki *pouts*

Non-drabble 4: Pnish/MoriDaiki (this barely counts as a fic in my opinion, it's too rambling and... oh just enjoy it >_<;)

Eiji was exhausted, physically shattered, broken and aching and wanting nothing more than the chance to close his eyes and sleep. He wanted to fall into dreams that made no demands on him, that didn’t stretch his muscles and leave him trembling like the way he was now. He wanted soft arms around him and a warm body to rest his head against, wanted to hear a gentle voice whispering into his ear and have his aches soothed by deft fingers. He wanted this lengthy torment of teasing to end, wanted closure and a finish that would enable him to finally rest.

Most of all he wanted Daiki to stop being so oblivious and realise that he was only putting himself through this extra, unnecessary, last minute rehearsal because it wasn’t in him to say ‘no’ to Daiki-chan. Because he couldn’t turn down a chance to spend time alone with Daiki, leader mode or not, even if neither of them needed the practice and it was horribly late and he was cold and tired and hungry.

Daiki bumped his shoulder against Eiji’s as he said, ‘It’s late, isn’t it?’

Eiji lowered the water bottle he’d been drinking out of so that he could look at his watch without spilling the contents. ‘Very late,’ he agreed. ‘Past midnight in fact.’

‘So… that means its tomorrow, right?’

‘Daiki, it’s never tomorrow. Tomorrow is always… tomorrow. But today is now yesterday and…’ Eiji blinked, he hated it when sleep deprivation prevented him from making sense. ‘It’s Wednesday,’ he confirmed at last. ‘Not Tuesday, not anymore.’

Daiki gave a nod of agreement. ‘Wednesday. Right.’ And with no more preamble than that, he leaned over and placed a kiss on Eiji’s jaw.

It appeared that sleep deprivation and exhaustion also prevented his brain from working properly because all Eiji could do in response was stare.

Daiki’s cheeks went a little red as he pointed out, ‘It’s tomorrow, Eiji. You know, Valentine’s Day.’

‘And… err… huh?’

‘What… you really thought I insisted on this practice because I thought we needed it?’ Daiki laughed. Eiji simply continued to blink at him in brain-addled confusion.

‘Mou, Eiji you’re not meant to react like this.’

‘Sorry,’ came the automatic apology. ‘Will this do?’ and leaning in suddenly, Eiji pressed his mouth clumsily to Daiki’s.

A whisper of something that might have been a sigh slipped out of Daiki’s mouth when Eiji pulled back a moment later. ‘Getting there,’ he told his friend. ‘But at least you didn’t make me wait until White Day like Takashi did.’

‘Ehhh?’

With a quick roll of his eyes, Daiki said, ‘Never mind. Now how about we get on with our practice?’

Eiji, still feeling completely confused and bewildered, gave a shake of his head, ‘Daiki… I’m exhausted, we’ve been working all day, I think I just want to go to bed.’

‘Wasshi was right, you really don’t work well on so little sleep do you?’

‘Look I’m just saying…’

Daiki cut Eiji off with a single finger raised between them; trying to look at it made Eiji go cross-eyed so he focused on Daiki’s face instead.

‘Eiji, I know you’re tired but we’re going to continue our practice…’

‘Daiki!’

‘Idiot, let me finish! When did I ever say that we’d be continuing to rehearse on this freezing floor?’

‘But… you… what… wait… oooh!’ The spark of realisation finally struggled to the surface, brightening even Eiji’s sleepy countenance and Daiki had to resist the urge to roll his eyes again.

With a growing smile, Eiji asked, ‘How much practice do you think we’ll need?’

‘Judging by this evening’s first attempts, a lot,’ announced Daiki. ‘But don’t worry, I cancelled tomorrow’s pnish meeting.’

‘Today’s.’

‘Huh?’

‘Tomorrow is now today.’

‘It’s Valentine’s Day, Eiji, and I’ve finally worked up the courage to kiss you. If you really think I’m going to let you keep talking you’ve got another thing coming.’

Eiji’s grin dragged itself out even wider. ‘Yes Leader.’

End

And then Tuti and Nagayan came along, demanding to be written about but also unwilling to conform to 100 words -_-;

Non-drabble 5: Tenimyu/TutiNagayan (again with the rambling)

Yawns are contagious, everyone knows that. Yawns are so contagious that if someone near you yawns you just have to follow suit. Yawns should also be accompanied by stretching, because if you’re yawning then you’re also tired and stretching makes you feel better, it helps you settle yourself down and get comfy. Again, this is something that everyone knows.

Tuti sneaked a surreptitious look at Takashi as he yawned for the fourth time and tried to use it as cover to get an arm round his boyfriend’s shoulders without him noticing.

‘You’re about as subtle as one of your shirts, Yuuichi,’ Takashi told him without taking his eyes off the television screen.

‘Huh?’

A hand closed round the wrist Tuti had been attempting to land casually on Takashi’s shoulder and he found himself being dragged suddenly closer to his boyfriend. ‘If you want to go to bed, you could have just said so,’ Takashi told him, something wicked putting a smirk on his mouth and making his eyes sparkle.

‘You laughed when I suggested it earlier!’ Tuti protested, because it was easy to feel hard done by when he was being so obviously teased.

‘That was because you suggested it at seven o’clock.’

With a mock sigh, Tuti said, ‘Okay, Takashi can we go to bed?’

‘Why?’

‘Why do you think? Because it’s Valentine’s Day - I want to show you how much I love you and how much I appreciate my present.’

Takashi gave a shake of his head and shifted his position so that he and his captive were a little closer. ‘Wrong answer, what’s the real reason?’

Tuti sighed again, properly this time, ‘All right, all right, I’m horny and lack self-control and you’re looking even more irresistible than usual. And you know it.’

With a grin, Takashi leaned closer still until his mouth was only a few inches away from Tuti’s and Tuti could feel his boyfriend’s breath rushing warm across his parted lips. Takashi’s gaze flickered up from Tuti’s mouth to his eyes as he asked softly, sweetly and seductively, ‘How can I resist that?’

‘Don’t ask me, you’ve been doing it all evening,’ muttered Tuti, but he didn’t bother saying it loud enough for Takashi to hear because his boyfriend was already determinedly leading the way to their bedroom and the last thing Tuti wanted were more distractions.

End

And now having written all of that sap, I really wish I had someone to snuggle. I don't often feel like being demanding but... damnit, this is one of those times

*hugs you all* ^____^
