So I guess this is how my sister felt every time I went off to uni... why is saying goodbye to her so much harder when I’m the one staying behind?
*takes a deep breath and moves on*
Work still sucks. I would rant and whine about it but that’s not going to change anything, except to make me more cross at how badly organised people are. Ignoring the almost overwhelming amounts of crappy stuff that’s happened recently, there have been good things. Number one being I’m going to America!
Okay, not immediately - I fly out to Virginia on Thursday 19th October. During my week and a half there as well as doing something vaguely cultural and probably touristy, I and the rest of the Dorridge choir will be singing in one of the Baptist churches of Richmond because it appears Americans have never heard of the musical ‘Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ and therefore need educating. I’m also getting to spend a day with
Butterfly_eli so that I can be called Marmite-chan in person, I can’t wait ^___^
But that’s not all! Seeing as I have no idea when I’ll next be able to cross that puddle called the Atlantic, I’m not coming straight home to dear old England but flying on to Texas on Monday 30th so that I can marvel at
kooriyoukai and
fencer_x’s Fangirl Paradise *____*
The only thing I’m not looking forward to is the flight home from Texas - there’s a six hour time difference and I’ll be landing at half seven in the morning of Sunday 5th November ><;
So if anyone wants a postcard then let me know (and email me your address!) I can’t promise to write coherently but it will at least be legible.
In other news - work gave me and the other temp some vouches for finishing the property deeds so "quickly" (their assessment, not mine). Hayley has now gone back to uni while I’ve been moved over to the other office to, in theory, archive the finance deeds in another, even smaller and pokier room. Joy. Still, the vouchers let me buy two books on Japanese history and four DVDs - King Kong, Memoirs of a Geisha, Princess Mononoke and The Cat Returns. This meant that last night my sister walked into the lounge to find my father watching Princess Mononoke... this morning she was half-convinced she’d dreamt it.
Oh and a quote from my sister who said (when asked to summarise King Kong) - "Crash, Bang, Wallop. Wallop, Bang, Crash. Wallop, Wallop, Wallop. Crash, Bang, Grrrrr!"
Japanese class on Tuesday night was fun. Choir practice on Thursday was exhausting. There’s another rehearsal this afternoon of the songs we’re going to sing in America. NB17 hasn’t been started yet, in fact I haven’t written anything all week because I’ve been too tired. My sister made me a t-shirt saying "SPOON" (you get a cookie if you can guess the reference but I’m warning you, it’s pretty weird) oh and seeing as that post from the other day has vanished somewhere into the Mysterious Mists of LJ, I’ll say here what I was going to say in response to what you lovely lot said in your comments ^___^
kooriyoukai - You can call me “snookums” if you really want to (why am I reminded of that fic I wrote for your birthday?) and despite things trying to screw themselves up, it looks like proper internet may be mine (well, my Dad’s) sometime in the next week *crosses fingers and praysbegs* Oh and you’re biased, highly biased ♥
silvey - I don’t get a nickname? ;_; And... and you wanted to tell me something? *starts worrying* What?
nacchi_camui - Woah, that’s how we met? I couldn’t remember *feels bad and hugs anyway*
butterfly_eli - I may be needing that writer’s block cure if the muses don’t get up off their lazy asses soon and help -_-; And... gah, don’t say things about wanting to tell me something but not! I have a very overactive imagination that’s determined to try and fill in the blanks!
damaramu - pressie? You’ve bought me a pressie? *bounces* Heh, and this is probably stating the blooming obvious, but you’d probably recognise the top I’m wearing right now ^^;
tayles - Woah, Tuti and Nagayan are gay? But I totally thought Nagayan was engaged to some perfect woman with incredible fashion sense and Tuti was... err... moving on ^_~
Oh great, I have laundry and hoovering to do. Joy.
