The lights are on but there's nobody home (Part Two)

May 31, 2006 00:52

Mamo makes my brain hurt and my sides split. I only had the urge to check his blog because I've been watching more of Eureka 7 today and the character he voices got laid (at least, that's what was implied).

Despite it not being my birthday last week (or even my non-birthday) I got given pressies by people!

Laura-Hat drew me a griffen! He's so pretty and I'm going to have to try and find a frame for him ♥

More pressies from LAS folks. The wind-up Shaun the Sheep was from Izzy and the other bits and pieces (the Bleach calender cards, the cat purse, the bookmark and the Byakuya keyring) were from Vivienne.

Ok, this wasn't exactly a present and I've had it since I took my sudden trip home last term, but it's the sign my sister made for my door to reassure all and sundry that there's nothing wrong with me. And it's shiny and it has Tuti-style doodles in the corners ♥

More trains, ice and drunken revelry (aka Sarah's non-birthday)

Following one very late night last Wednesday, we then got up bright and early on Thursday to do it all over again; except that Becci wasn't feeling right and so she opted to stay home. We assembled folks at the station to begin yet another journey only this time we were heading in the opposite direction to Wales!

Look absolutely thrilled don't they? So one protracted replacement bus ride later we were on the train and Laura-bell and I presented Saz with the first of her pressies. She'd already opened the ones from Becs over breakfast (and the big cuddly Al-plush I got her because it would have been a bit awkward carrying it around all day) so Laura-bell gave her a Box of Bish ^__^

We finally made it out of Liverpool to change trains in what was quite literally the middle of nowhere.

Alas our collective planning skills had been scuppered by train changes and we found ourselves with half an hour to kill in the Back of Beyond. So Saz got more pressies ^__^

Just as well it was nice weather really because we also had Tim demonstrating... something on poor Jackie

And gamers in the wild.

So having left the flat at about quarter past nine we finally reached the ice rink just before 12. Everyone got kitted up and took off while I spent the next few hours playing "Mum", taking photos and applauding them all. Because it was a school day the place was practically empty and the other large group on the ice cleared off at around 1pm so our lot had the ice to themselves.

Vivienne was very good (and hence blurry when I tried to take a picture)

Tim was... well, Tim. Except on ice *shrugs*

It was Kev's first time ice-skating and he did way better than I did the first time I tried it.

Simon was really good (and did a complete circuit of the rink in 22 seconds). Laura and Saz both looked like they were having fun too.

And yes, it really was this empty by the end

So after wearing everyone out, we headed to Pizza Hut. Saz opened the last of her pressies and we scoffed pizza and ice-cream factory between us.

But even though everyone was very tired, no one could actually be allowed to fall asleep.

Because we had the Last EVER Modos social that night!

And that's not a great picture of me, but then this (which I took when I got home at about half one in the morning) isn't much better ^^

Modos was... fun. Much drunken, crazy fun. It was weird too though. Looking back there seemed to have been a kind of determination that we were all going to have a great night, almost a desperation to make the most of our last night out all together. I'm not sure, but there was a kind of different atmosphere compared to the previous socials we've had there and I don't think it can be blamed solely on the alcohol because there have been times when I've been at Modos and drunk more than I did on Thursday night and not behaved like that.

So that was Thursday.

Friday was a lot quieter and I for one felt almost like I'd crashed. I wasn't hungover (far from it actually, I woke up only an hour later than normal feeling perfectly fine) but I think I was worn out from spending so much time with other people so I kind of kept to myself where I could once again proving how much of an introvert I am (sorry folks). Still, Laura-bell cooked a very nice roast. We were presented with a lot of cake from various people (Emma, Jackie, Marianne & Homan, and Hannah). Becci, whose actual birthday it was, got many pressies most of which fell under the category of pretty boys (purely unintentional theme I promise). And I spent many hours talking to Rissa, which made me feel considerably more human.

Saturday was our last day together and to celebrate we went to Alton Towers for much scream-filled fun with Simon, Laura-Hat and Ian. It was a lot of fun, even though I didn't go on any of the big rides (not a fan of rollercoasters personally) and we were all exhausted by the time we got home. Sunday the girls all left. Monday I finally started packing properly before heading round to Jackie's in the evening (and not leaving until gone 2am) and then today (or yesterday as it is now) I took down almost all of my pictures, packed the entire contents of my wardrobe and most of my books and am now sitting in a disturbingly empty-looking room.

*sighs* Tomorrow is the LAS BBQ at which many things will be burnt and hopefully something vaguely edible will be produced. If not, I'll be making cake in the morning (I just hope there's enough to go round because there's a fair few more people coming than I initially realised).

las, life, flat, friends, photos
