a good way to start off your bio reading

way in the beginning of the introduction of my biology book:

"Herbivores eat plants. Plants cannot run away when an animal approaches, so they are easy to catch..." (2)

nice contrast to the next page:

"There are only about 30 species in the second group of chondrichthyans, the ratfishes or chimaeras. The name of the group, Holocephalii, from the Greek holo = whole and cephal = the head, refers to the single gill cover that extends over all four gill openings" (3)
